    This is what they got:

    Willie Bobo: Always There
    Patti Austen: Like A Butterfly
    India: Fever
Les Hommes: Pousada Do Amor - excellent neobossa
Salome De Bahia: Tormento De Amor
    Soul Survivors: Soul To Soul
The Dells: They Said it Couldn't Be Done
    G-Litter: Paiste
Barry White: Theme From Together Brothers
    Jorge Ben: Comanche
    Loleatta Holloway: Run Away
    Serge Gainsbourg: Javanaise remake
Liza Minnelli: When It Comes Down To It
    Kenny Barron: Fungii Mama
Herbie Hancock & Bill Laswell: Retrato Calado
    I Gres: Shadow
    and so on.

What they didn't get was one of the best eurodisco outrages I've ever heard, just sent to me from Italy. MEPHISTO by Diabolic Soul Invention has a Hot Blood/Soul Dracula-type male voice slobbering over a breathy, weakly protesting lady: " No...I won't let you take my soul...no..NOOO..aaah!" No means yes here and the whole thing could have been used as a theme song for Mario Gariazzo's immortal film "The Sexorcist / L'Ossessa", in which a crucified statue comes alive to rip see-thru bri-nylon underwear off heavily made-up Italian actresses.

Jussi, I love your knowledge of decadent trashy italian subculture, but I did not understand if that list of song comes from a compilation or what.

You mean did I just throw a compliation album or - horrors - a cd on and go out for a breather? No, those cuts are all individual 12"ers or album cuts old ( Barry White) or spanking new ( Les Hommes) that were spinned to a crowd of cappuccino freaks with pierced navels and tattoos they'll be sorry for later on. I'd never let a compliation album just run thru my man! But if you're talking about the Mephisto track, yes, that is off a compliation called ABASCOR which has odd 70's tv and movie themes, snippets of dialoque from sexy comedies, hygiene tips for teens, beauty secrets revealed etc. Abascor is a cd so that was the reason the trendies were not subjected to the track.

    Hi JussiK,

so you're playing some JORGE BEN in your sets. Great! The guy's one of my musical heroes. COMANCHE is a great song. Do you have many JORGE BEN records?

    Peace,

TROPICAL has the furious "TAJ MAHAL" which has been a favourite for ages - spin that and sort the dancers out of the flatfooters!
