I'm pretty sure the lyrics are resung, but I have an old
speed garage cut from 99 by Cappucino-Adp groove that
has the same vocals used in "Lola's theme"?
just curious as to who did the original??
"I'm a different person...yeah..since you turned my world around"
thanks in advance TC

The domestic release is called "Shape-Uk" Lola's theme
on Ultra records USA http://www.ultrarecords.com/
They had to change the name for the domestic release because
there is a hip hop group called "Shapeshifters" in the US ;)
In the UK it was picked up by Positiva records
They are a UK group which lauched 'Lolas theme' at the Miami Disco convention last year.
One sample comes from Johnnie Taylor 'What about my love' and the other is 'Love me tonight' but I can't remember who that was.
there's another version of What About My Love on EPIC from 1983 done by Damaris Carbaugh
It's by Anthony White 'Love Me Tonight'. Think it came out about 1993
Thanks for the info... Much appreciated...
However IMO the real challenge is to find out what the sample is for their follow-up 'Back to Basics'...![]()

THANK YOU!!!!! I can't believe that someone else out there actually knows that song! I thought I was crazy for the longest time, no one believed me that Lola's Theme sampled something else. But no one could ever tell me the name of the song or who did it. I remember hearing it in an afterhours club that I used to go to in Houston TX and I have it on an old mixtape somewhere. Now at least I know exactly what I'm looking for! You're the best!!!!
The original sample is Johnnie Taylor - What About My Love
There is also Joey Negro Re-Edit.
You can take a listen on a mix I did last month

If you go to this site (it's in French) you can hear a clip of the original Johnny Taylor song that was used in "Lola's Theme". Go to the column on the far left that says auteur and page down till you see Johnny Taylor.
If you go on to page 2, you can hear a clip by Vernon Burch that served as the basis for the Dee-Lite song "Groove Is In The Heart".

DISCO
The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.
Yes the original version is the Johnnie Taylor track on U.S Beverly Glen. I'm pleased that somebody mentioned the Demaris version as its a better dance floor sound.
