    Fads come and go....

Many people thought disco was a fad, but there have been several fads in the last ten years.

    The low-carb craze

    Beanie Babies

Gigapets--don't think this ever caught on in the U.S. as in other areas.

    Boybands

Reality tv shows--I wish this one would die out.

Support our troops ribbons on cars

Wearing one short longer than the other short

"Rachel" hair style (Remember the Dorothy Hamill and Farrah styles from the 70's??)

    Fanny packs

"Fa shizzle" or any Snoop Dogg lingua

    You can say that again!

Back when I was growing up, the fads were:

    Rubik's Cube
    Pac-Man
Neon-colored bracelets (particularly the ones where you took two of them and twisted them together)
    The Smurfs
Madonna in her "Like A Virgin" period
    Breakdancing
    Underoos (with cartoon characters)
    Mr. T
    Designer Jeans
Rainbows (as in decal stickers, suspenders)
    Stickers (Care Bears, scratch-and-sniff)
    E.T.
    Boy George
    The Muppets

 Memmmmmmmorieeeeeees, like the corners of my mind.....misty water-colored memmmmmmmmmmorieeeeeeeessssss......

Hustle, a lot of the "izzle" Snoop talk has been around for decades...it's old carnival barker lingo that Mr. Calvin Broadus seems to have "borrowed".

For the past several years, I realized that I'm starting to get sick over the ungrammatical use of the word "so".

    Examples:
    "I'm SO out of here!"
    "This is SO 20th century!"
"You're SO fired!" (you won't hear Donald Trump say that!)
"This is SO not what we had in mind!"

It's a good thing the movie The Wizard of Oz wasn't made today, or we would hear Dorothy say: "We are SO not in Kansas anymore!"

OK. So, go ahead and call me a nit-picking old fart. But, to use the vernacular, this is SO not right!

By the way, no offense intended to you, HustleBaby!

Another one that I remember from the late 80's or early 90's is the dismissive use of the word "...NOT!!!"

It may have been used in earlier decades, but I think it really became more popular when the "Wayne's World" sketch on SNL (with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey) used it so often.

    ...NOT!
