Any help that can be offered in the name of the band that sang a song that went, "People stay just a little bit longer, please, please, please, say you will."
I know it is a cover of an older song by the Zodiacs. It has 2 vocalists, male and female and was a big hit in clubs in the early 80's. It sounds a lot like Lime but I can't find anything that sounds like it in any of their discography so I guess it isn't them. Any help in identifying this tune would be highly apreciated..................... :) ZANDER

also try for a group "Spargo".They made two records in early 80 s.and their second album was "go".I remember that the woman of that group has the same voice with the singer of "lime"Originally Written by jim137
Aren't you talking about " Stay " from Jackson Browne
( 1979 ) ?
The oft-covered Stay was originally recorded by Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs in 1960; written by Mr. Williams.
The covers were done by, among many others, the Four Seasons, Lou Christie, the Hollies, Jackson Browne...and a dancey early Eighties import version with a RED cover by Marx & Spencer.
"Oh won't you staaaaaaaaaaay, just a little bit longer/
please, please, please staaaaaaaaay, tell me that you're goin' too" (or something like that)
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
It's the Lou Christie version that I remember. Incidentally, another of Lou's songs "Lightning Strikes" (I believe that's the title without hunting up the 45) sounds so much like Frankie Vallie that most people can't tell them apart.
"Lightning striking again and again and again and again"
How did he get his voice so high?
Dr. Disco is now a commercial property owner.
The song is "Stay (People stay just a little)" by D. Max.
I know because I'm listening to it right now!
