I POd DJ's ( A Fad or the wave of the future?)

Came across this item and find it interesting. An expected step in the I Pod revolution. I guess one potential is that it could faciltate the next generation in discovering the great sounds of yesteryears disco. :-? Comments?

Undoubtedley, some will take this route and the convenience of its size is tempting, but..........who knows whether or not this will become de rigeur.
I personally think that progress and technology will not be denied, so my money's on either this, or the next big thing, eventually grabbing all the action. It may take a few issues to be resolved first though.

Would I want to DJ that way? Nooooooooo, but never say never, eh?!!

Well, if you strip djing down to its's bare essentials, who cares what media dj uses? Isn't the most important thing to play music (in an innovative or personal way) to make the party go up the roof or make the people amused some other way?

It has been done with vinyl,s cassetes, reel-to-reel tapes, cds, computers, why not something else?

Of course there is the image thing and comfortability issues.

Now, you can burn me in Hell! :-?

If I were to deejay with an iPod, whoever paid me would think I was too lazy. You have got to put on some sort of a show to justify your pay!

Sure would be tempting to just walk in and plug an iPod into the club's sound system and run with it.

Guess I would make sure the owner and the patrons couldn't see what I was doing.

Yes, I agree - part of the whole thing is the show, the production, and working the turntables (or at least the cd drives). I can't help but think this looks cheap, somehow...I do love my IPod though, I have days worth of disco on it!

I-pod or computer isn't the real matter. Missuse of badly encoded Mp3:s is a pain for the ear. OK it doesn't matter in a noicy bar with a stereo baught at Best Buy, but in a nightclub with good equipment, isolated soundstage with high db:s. AOUCH my ears are hurting..
