The Japan track is actually quite good. It's this CD that plain sucks...

Bought this in the late 1980s for around $30. and still regret it.
born2disco's comment in another thread prompted me to ask the question....
What's the worst record/track Giorgio Moroder was involved with as a performer/writer/producer? :-?
I'll have to think about that...but I'm betting "Life inTokyo" will be getting at least one vote!!!!! :P (NOT FROM ME, from b2d, I would guess).
I liked the Japan 12".![]()

The Moroder of "Together in electric dreams" and "Take my breath away". The Moroder without the moustache, hahahahaha!
And I agree with Bernie, "that one" is disgusting too and completely and undeniably.
I've never heard of that "To Be Number One" CD!!!
What kinda music is it? :-? :o :-? :o
I still liked him at the time of Together in Electric Dreams" & "Take My Breath Away". Sorry, vs...but I disagree. :P :P :P

This is a tough one.. but I'd have to say "Two To The Power of Love" the duet with Janet Jackson and Cliff Richard ( :o ).. It was on Janet's second album - Dream Street (from 1984, I believe).. Half of the album was produced by Moroder/Bellotte.. Their other tracks on there are better, and this one isn't downright awful, but it's probably one of the most generic, uninspired things he's been a part of..
I always liked "The Hostage", though I know a lot of people can't stand it.

:( Cher's "Bad Love" was just hokey...so glad Donna didn't get to touch this.
His production of the France Joli album "Attitude" ("Girl in the 80's", "Blue Eyed Technology") was far from his best.
"Giorgio and Chris" wasn't too good either.
"Love's In You, Love's In Me" by Giorgio & Chris is one of my favorite albums.
"Love Now Hurt Later"; "Burning the Midnight Oil" are classics.
The way the first side all flows together is so smooth.
Try listening to it again.

How could we forget SSS? The hype that was so hyped that it wasn't a hype anymore. The outfits, the cars, the missiles, the videos: completely over the top.Originally Written by jim137
I think they tried to create a new cyberpunkwave since Tony James from Generation X was in the band. But they blew it, the world wasn't ready for them. They even worked with Stock, Aitken and Waterman (the destroyers of dancemusic), so how low can u go!
But at least it was a novelty and to be honest I Like "Love Missile F1-11" a lot. I even adore it.:D
And they're still around folks!

Interesting site.
"Burning Love" on the Blak Elvis album made me laugh and laugh.

I apologize, Jim 137- I re-listened to "Giorgio and Chris", and the songs that you mentioned are very good - I haven't listened to this in a long, long time and would snatch it up on CD.
Don't forget the Scarface soundtrack. Especially the "Push It To The Limit" song...a definete contender for worst song of the decade.
I've got a Giorgio compilation CD (German Repertoire records) & some of his stuff from the early 70s is just awful; tracks such as 'Looky Looky', 'Stop' & 'Underdog'. Thank goodness it improves as it goes along with classics such as 'From Here To Eternity' & 'Baby Blue'. However the quality decreases again when you get to his 80s stuff like 'Lady Lady', 'Solitary Man' & 'American Dream'. It seems as though the man's genius lasted for just a few short years! ('75-'79).

"Beautiful Day"?
This is definitely not an "UP" album but I can't put it with his worst.
Certainly well crafted and technically sound.

I don't dislike Solitary Man that much i just don't classify it as a Disco Album.Originally Written by Bona boy
Solitary Man; Show me the Night; To Turn the Stone; A Love Affair, Face To Face and Valley of the Dolls are certainly relistenable.
American Dream in my opinion does not classifly as a "Worst"

It was the official song of the 1990 Soccer World Cup, which took place in Italy (Argentina -with Maradona- reached second best on that one). Sang by those two little figures -Italian singers- on the CD cover.Originally Written by markydefad
It was terrible! Eurovision-worthy.
I'm loving all the BAD Moroder ideas!!!! :D :D :D
I forgot about a lot of this stuff and some I never heard of. :o
I'm thinking that the "Zodiac Lady" LP by Roberta Kelly was a prime example of Moroder working at C- level as a writer/producer.
Strangely, the LP prior to "ZL", "Troublemaker" has some great tracks on it...especially "Think I'm Gonna Break Sombody's Heart Tonight" which only I seem to like around here. And the next LP after 'ZL"..."Gettin' The Spirit" is great fun, especially the title track. This was a Trocadero classic!!!! :D
The "ZL" LP left me cold. :-?
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Mark, too bad you didn't know my early SF friends, we all loved "Think I'm Gonna Break..." and "Love Power"! We also enjoyed the Zodiac Lady album. I thought it was fun.Originally Written by markydefad
As for "Gettin' The Spirit," one of our friends loved the tune because it would help to fulfill her Sunday morning "gotta go to church" requirement (inflicted by her Mom!) while she was dancing to the wee hours of the morning at Troc!
I only recall the "Two Be Number One" CD as an import. The US record labels wisely stayed away from that stinker!
The two instrumental songs on Metropolis soundtrack :) .
IMHO this is the only interesting thing Moroder produced in the eighties:

Having never heard these before, 'Push It... ' does sound a bit cheesy, but I have developed a soft spot for 'Rush Rush' with Debbie Harry on vocals.
BTW, What's the general opinion on GM's MECO-esque album for Battlestar Galactica? (Casablanca, 1978)?
Ian
You Know Ian...That's how I learned about these tracks too. I sucked at actually playing GTA III so I settled for cruising around the town and laughing of the Moroder tracks instead :lol:Originally Written by Ian_W359
I wonder what Tony Montana would have to say to that? :lol:Originally Written by K-Bee
Theres actualy a short 2 min interview with Giorgio on the Scarface DVD in the bonus features..that guy has not aged well..he looks like a cross between Jerry Garcia and an anarexic santa LOL LOL
Anyhow, back on subject, id have to say to sum it all up..just about everything he did in the 80s pretty much sucks minus a few songs on "Electric Dreams" soundtrack and the kick ass theme to "Cat People" he did with Bowie. 2 songs that make me cringe out of his 80s stuff though is that damn "Reach Out" olympic song from 84 and of corse..Flashdance! :x
