I don't see the point in gay Top 10s, Top 100s, etc. It's just music.

I found this chart to be weak.
"Everyone knows the real reason why you got that part it was the time you spent on that casting couch"--Antoine Merriwether
"Excuse me, Miss Thing, but both of us spent time on that couch"--Blaine Edwards

As a gay person, I have better taste than that, thank you very much!

I think that this is a list of discosongs that were embraced by the gay-community or that the artists are considered as gay-icons.

I know for example that in gay circles in Germany, Marianne Rosenberg is one of the heroes. So are Right Said Fred in England and Holland.

Is this a gay music-bible? I don't think so. Everybody has certain songs in his life that get you through hard times. Mine is Prince's
"Let's go crazy", certainly the part where he mentions a certain

A reason why these lists must die. I refuse to have Right Said Fred as a representative for the so-called community I belong to!

Presumably, this chart is a very personal one (i.e. just the website owner's) and shouldn't be taken as a definitive guide. Would everyone like every entry in your top 100 if you were to publish one?

Why get so uptight over it? The top 500, 700 charts on this site have many discs that are a million miles away from what I would be seen dead playing, either BITD or now, but no-one's ever really bitched about them too much, even though they should be viewed as having far more gravitas.

A lot of the songs on the lists (e.g. "Celebration, YMCA") probably rec'd just as much airplay in straight clubs as in gay.

Well, sometimes compilations can be great. In Europe, a few years ago, there was a compilation of all-time funfair-hits from the 60's and 70's. Brought back great memories!

But you're right about the gay-straight division. Music is a universal thing and is generally not made to divide people.

In response to a previous question, Right Said Fred are two brothers, Richard and Fred Fairbass. Richard is gay and Fred is not. [/quote]

Richard used to prefer to be labelled bisexual rather than gay, but then, the only difference in my experience between gay/bisexual/straight men is about 6 pints of beer!

Not getting uptight about anything - please don't make me post one of these: ;)

Surely you must be aware though of the general bad taste rife on gay top 100's, gay radio stations etc. This list seems pretty reflective of that if you ask me!

Marky, that sounds like a Stephen King Horror Movie. Are those breeders amongst us? Can we communicate with them? Please, I'm getting scared here! :o

Haha, I also agree with the majority. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I love showtunes...music tastes are different for all. (Disco beats all though! :D )

Being a gay deejay, I had to laugh at the idea of a chart for the Top 100 Drag Queen songs. I deejayed over 350 drag shows probably in 7 years. I know the song I heard the most was "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".

I cannot hear that song without seeing generic drag queens in my mind.

    It's a scary thought.
Dr. Disco is now a commercial property owner.

  I hear that! Try working The Anvil for a few years. Two shows a night --- every night. :x If it wasn't Ms. Ross, it was Ms. Summer. And if it wasn't Ms. Summer, it was Ms. Midler. And if it wasn't Ms. Midler, it was Ms. Streisand. JHC!!. The first thousand renditions were the hardest. :D

There were some people there doing some interesting things but they were too far in between for my head.

As for this guy's Top 100 Gay Songs... I stopped reading at Abba - Dancing Queen. Right there I knew we weren't in sync.
