Does anyone know if "Maybe This Time" by Debbie Jacobs was ever released? I heard a rumour that it was only released as a promo on Sunergy, but due to litigation, never made it out commercially. I've been trying to get a copy of it for over 10 years, but no one I know is sure of it's existence. I heard the instrumental version of it once in a club in Washington, DC that was great - I'm assuming it was the B side. The DJ was mixing back and forth between the instrumental and the vocal versions.

I never knew Debbie had recorded "Maybe This Time" until she sang it as her "hit" in the the Boystown Gang "Dance Trance" medley from "A Cast of Thousands."
I only knew the Norma Lewis version.
Was that the source of the conflict? The competing Norma Lewis version, that is? Or was this later? :-?
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Yes, that was the source of conflict. Apparently Norma Lewis had better lawyers! It's a shame because Debbie's version was so much more energetic - the version on Dance Trance is slightly different. Although it couldn't be released, she would always sing it when she was doing live shows. Debbie Jacobs lives in Baltimore Maryland and currently works as a social worker, but occasionally she still performs. A friend of mine knows her personally. I had him ask her if she would make a copy of her version for me and she said that she didn't even have a copy (can you believe that?????????) My quest for it continues................
