Not sure I agree with all your criteria discosavvy... is "All Around The World" by Lisa Stansfield really 'Electro'? (I wouldn't call it 'Disco' either but anyway...)
Anyway, here's a disco record from 1990.

But having had a look at the very confusing rules again, I suspect they are very, very flexible !
I got an email today from an interested person who had read this thread and was wondering if the contest is still on. The answer is YES, but since I don't visit this board much anymore it's better if you email me directly, rather than replying here or sending a PM.
Some people still aren't paying attention to the rules and didn't read the list of songs that are already disqualified.
"(Feel the) Love Magic (Love Magic 70's Disco Mix)" by John Davis & The Monster Orchestra (1990) is a remix of "Love Magic" which is already listed under 1979. Therefore its first release was 1979.
"Grove is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite is not a disco track. I already ruled it out. This contest is based on *sound* not *content*. It's not enough that a song is a cover of a disco track, or is influenced by one. It has to sound disco itself.
Jamiroquai's earliest tracks weren't disco, and the band was founded in 1992 - two years after the year of this contest.
To monsieurwilly: What 1990 track by Incognito did you have in mind? I won't spend time looking for something that probably doesn't exist considering as you're not credible after having claimed Jamiroquai recorded a song in 1990.
To Simon White: "Starting All Over Again" by Liz Lands is a song I haven't heard before and couldn't find a sample when I searched for one. But since it's produced and mixed by Ian Levine (whose forte is all-electronic music then and now), and this song is described as Hi-NRG on the Net, I doubt it meets the criteria. Feel free to prove me wrong on this one. Remember, I need a sound sample or a place where I can find one.
Whats the purpose of your site Discosavvy? Like a lot of the sub-genres(Which more often than not are pointless anyway) just seem made up to satisfy some need to associate certain songs with discos
. Maybe im wrong but it seems more work than its worth
Kylie Minoque's "Better the Devil You Know" was released as in April 1990. This song gets still played at 00.30 precisely every Saturday night at London's G.A.Y disco bash as the ultimate disco anthem. So, ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.
And I'm going to see KYLIE LIVE IN CONCERT tonight in Helsinki!!!!
Well, there were 11 800 of us at the Hartwall Arena where the sold-out concert took place yesterday, and all of us men, c 5 500 of us, we were up on our feet stomping and clapping and dancing and singing along with The Diva, so welcome to Finland, Sandra!
And what a concert - dressed in Jean Paul Gaultier the 12 dancers and Kylie took us thru 3 totally disco sequences during the 2,5 hrs set. The first was a spactacular tropical medley of "Love Boat Theme " and "Copacabana". At the beginning of the second, she called out "Anyone want to go to THE DISCO?!" and launched into "Step Back In Time", while the massive led screen stage flashed into the familar Sat. Night Fever-style dance floor under the troupe's feet and all along the sides. The best was the 3rd. That was color-coded in stark black and white and started with the dancers doing a traditional waltz for a while, dressed in French revolution era clothes. Then a bass drum kicked in and Kylie appeared, marching militantly foward and bursting into a jubilant "Your Disco Needs You". Totally amazing and incredibly camp. and yes, us heteros get camp as well! :icon_twisted:
Discosavvy, hello? Was there some talk of money...?
