    Hi Passaro:
The version I have is from the Hot Tracks Hot Classics Boxed Set (which incidently went for $610.00 on Ebay a couple of days ago), which the lyrics are "Baby she turns out to be a natural freak, gaining weight and losing sleep, and when she's sweet sixteen, she packs her things and leaves with a man she's never seen..etc." Or something like that.

I have the original (I think :D ) 12". The lyrics Discomic showed are correct or close enough. The change came at "with no blacks, no jews, and no gays" to "where only upper class people stay."

    Rare 12"

The revised lyrics: Where only upper class people stay—came out on a revised 12” from RCA. I had one. A.J. Miller, the president of SCDDJA objected to the no jews and gays, so RCA changed them and pressed a bunch of new 12" singles. I remember this was part of our agenda at one of our meetings back in the day.
Always looking for remastered 12\" versions on CD

I've got the original ("No blacks, no Jews, and no Gays") version, it came from a cheap, but quite quality, compilation from an entity called "Le 5 @ 8." They've been around for awhile, they're from Quebec and there are six such discs with genuinely good stuff on them (but mostly short versions - like the 4+1/2 minute "Supernature" and the 3:40 "Do you wanna funk." Machine's trademark song, however, was there in total and uncensored.

The lyrics on this version though, are still "Gaining weight and losing sleep." Which I never thought was honestly all that "freaky."

I got it at Tower records so it's probably common.

Passero: To answer your question, neither the original version nor the one made acceptable for radio-play contain the lyrics, "popping pills and smoking weed". The lyrics sheet you have is incorrect.

    .

Ah yes, I have that on a compilation of Nineties stuff. It was by Fire Island....don't recall the lyric change, but it could be.

AMG says this version is on "Disco Kandi" / "Sessions Two-Paul Oakenfold" / "Energy Rush" / "Now Dance: Summer of '94" / "Hits '94, volume I" (I think this is the one I have).

    from AMG:

House producers Pete Heller and Terry Farley (aka Farley & Heller) released a few track as Fire Island that featured diva vocalists such as Loleatta Holloway. The duo derived their moniker from the well-known vacation spot on Long Island that is widely considered to be a haven for the New York City gay community, particularly those who enjoy partying. "Shout to the Top," featuring Loleatta Holloway, is the most successful Fire Island track, being one of the most popular house tracks of 1998. Other Fire Island productions include "If You Should Need a Friend," "White Powder Dreams," and "There but for the Grace of God." In addition to Holloway, who is one of the New York garage/house scene's definitive icons, Fire Island tracks also featured vocalists Mark Anthoni and Love Nelson. Big-name producers such as Frankie Knuckles and Pete Rauhofer have remixed Fire Island tracks, most of which were released by the Junior Boys Own label.
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."
