Hi, on a recent trip to Las Vegas where

I lost $150 in Blackjack, I did pick up

a mint sealed copy of "Michelle" on Westbound for a buck.

Can anybody give me any info on this ep?

    Is anybody looking for it?

Michelle was a french act picked up by Mel Cheren for its newborn West End label in 1977 (WES 103). It was the firs disco LP for the label since WES 100, 101 and 102 were movie soundtrack. Tom Moulton did a great studio rendering of a typical eurodisco chanteuse. Much more sought after is the 12" of "Disco Dance" (WES 12 110), always from 1977, including the famous Patrick Cowley megamix.

That album was totally awesome! I have read many times that the lead singer, "Michele", was actually Chantal Curtis ("Get Another Love"), but for whatever reason, couldn't use her real name...........go figure! The Patrick Cowley megamix of "Disco Dance" was so ahead of it's time. I have it on DISCONET, but it was also released on a 12". I saw it recently on eBay!

    from another thread :

Disco Funk: Can't You Feel It is the odd track on the disco dance album because...it's a Philly soul track! To me that's signficant. The majority of the album was played by the members of the Lafayette Afro Rock Band/Ice, while Can't You Feel It was recorded with the usual philly studio cats, and was mixed by Tom Moulton.

If you really like the track, you can go to West End's website and purchase downloads of breakdown remixes of it by Masters At Work. They're faithful to the original mix, in that they don't contain any anachronistic overdubs or effects. They weren't released on CD or 12" as far as I know (at least, not the more stripped down mixes).

    Delicious cowbell song:

    CAN'T YOU FEEL IT

All four cuts ... as the chart reflects, are delightful successful disco disco tunes .

I had this record at the time and was perfectly happy with it and all that it had to offer .

Until now I didn't know of this little added twist ... the Patrick Cowley twist:

Wow! In this version the song is entirely the same as the LP for the first 8:42 of it and then comes the tacked on Patrick Cowley stuff . The DJs at the time certainly could taste the future with this one . Spacey and narrowly looped ....the kind of sound in disco I would apply the term "trance" to .. ....

I'd heard that too. Their songs were written and/or produced by the same guy and the vocals do sound very similar. Particularly if you compare "Can You Feel It", with "Get Another Love". If it's true, the name change would be due to Keylock Records having the contract on the Chantal Curtis LP.

I have to admit "Hold Me, Squeeze Me" is a personal guilty-pleasure! Every once-in-awhile someone gets the whole
cotton-candy-disco sound just right. And I love it.

But "Magic Love" is da freakin' bomb!

"Magic Love" was the best cut, though the chorus on "Can You Feel It" gets me "Baby, baby, baby baby, your sweet love...is driving me crazy". Total heaven.

Found this LP for $5 this summer. Mmm mmm mmm.
