Jussi, as you are the master of cinemacabre, please pontificate upon this twisted little tale. A HOLE IN MY HEART has big buzz stateside...is it just hype?

Why, thank you - but I haven't seen the film in question yet - been quiet on the festival front lately. Those who have seem to agree it's good. - Keep you eye on Catherine Breillat's latest, "The Anatomy of Hell". This hysterical manifesto goes far beyond "Romance" or "Fat Girl/A Ma Soeur" in terms of questionable sexual politics and like Pasolini's "Salo", wallows in the subjects it tries to condemn. In other words, the perfect night out at the arthouse: a gay man is hired by a disenchanted woman to sit by her bed and confront her demonstrations of the feminine physique. Cue to scenes of h/c sex during menstruation, endless pontificating in subtitled French, massive doses of angst, armpit close-ups, runny noses, artful compositions, moody music. What else could we want?
