Never ever heard of this one but I had at look a the trailer and it's not only about the disco-sphere (it's set in 1979), it seems very interesting too. Did anybody see this one and can give some more details? Perhaps about the music?

Thx Marcio for the great tip!

Now this is piquing my curiosity because I noticed the Farsi (Persian script) in the title and my girlfriend is Iranian. We'll definitely have to watch this.

What's also interesting is that many Iranians in fact owned and still own many clubs in the US. We once went to a club on 14th St. in DC only to discover that everyone behind the scenes were Iranian and my girlfriend recognized the owner and some of the staff from the pre-revolution days of Iran.

I always thought "THE EYES OF LAURA MARS" captured the era (not specifically the Disco scene, admittedly) really well. A fair few Disco tracks in that movie though.

Interesting. Why do you think so Quinny?
Loved Let's All Chant in that movie. In fact I used to like the soundtrack though it's a little creepy 8)

Paul: I last saw this film a good few years ago, but remember that it just gave me a feeling that it was very much of its time, the location, soundtrack, fashion etc all being more or less spot on. It was made in '79? or thereabouts, so not a retro remake.

Two weeks ago I rented Starsky & Hutch and found the movie amusing, cute, great 70's wardrobe/stylist doing a good justice to the original. It's no Oscar contender however, I can watch it again. The soundtrack was okay - I would give it a 6. If it wasn't for Ben Stiller and Snoop Dogg, it probaly would have flopped at the box office.

My video store dosen't have The Eyes of Laura Mars nor do they have Lookin' For Mr.GoodBar but I enjoyed both enough to watch them over and over.

Get EYES..dvd for a glamour-obsessed, Andy Warhol's Interview- view of the disco era in New York. Your eyes will caress the shiny fabrics, the minimalist interiors and the animated scenarios of Helmut Newton photographs. I too love the kinky posturing, wild overacting as usual by Faye Dunaway, models in underwear getting murdered, snappy dialoque. The disc comes complete with an astute commentary by the director.

This is one of my fave movies. It's kitsch, and I agree with a previous poster that it depicts the era really well #. A lot of films made back then don't ironically. I always try a catch it when it's on TV, as I was too scared to buy the divvy dee...Thanks to Jussik, I'll grab a copy.

#Glittery tube tops. silver high heels. Satin jeans. Tweed jackets. Blow dried hair. Lip gloss...That's enough about the menswear.     :P

The photo shoots in the film, remind me of many an album cover: Debbie Jacobs, Bohannon, etc...

Anyone know whatever happened to Darlanne Fluegel? She was a real model apparently.

I totally forgot that one over the last years and spend the whole week looking for that one. Here, it ain't easy to find in the shops but today, bingo! And you're absolutely right about it, when you look at the movie you definitely get the disco-sphere.

Thx for bringing that one up (paid € 33,50 for it though )

The movie that comes to me is "Looking For Mr. Goodbar". It captures so well the whole pre-AIDS club experience. My favorite scene is where Diane Keaton's trick takes her to a gay disco. The music playing is Donna Summer's "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It". Many a night I spent dancing to that song til the wee hours as well!

I remember seeing a really cheapo UK movie all about gay clubbing in London in the late 70s called 'Nighthawks'. Although I found it fascinating as i was quite young & innocent at the time (there WAS a time...) the music was awful (not proper disco music), the acting wooden & the whole thing very amateurish. Pity 'cos it could've been so good with more money, talent & research. Has anyone else ever seen this film?

This very movie was shown on TV in the UK the other night.
It's been on quite a few times recently, and I know it flopped when released, which is a shame as it's quite good. And pertinent to the times we're living in now.
