OK, I've got nothing against sampling & I actually like alot of house or whatever it's called this week but if I hear the track that samples Pointer Sisters' 'Dare Me' or the one that samples Steve Winwood's 'Valerie' once more when I'm out & about I will scream or punch someone (must get some Prozac  )'cos they both irritate the **** out of me with their over-repetitiveness. I don't know what the tracks are called but I really think it's time house music called it a day after 18 years (God, disco was far superior & didn't last that long!).
On the subject of post-disco, can I recommend the recent 'best of Seal' CD as it's brilliant. He's such a talented singer/writer & most of it is produced by one of my favourite producers, Trevor Horn. I'm so proud that he's British too.
Indeed, where's the time that samples were used in a creative way? Today the trick is: get a sample from a less-known discohit, loop it and do absolutely NOTHING INTERESTING with it
Sad, my dear friends, very sad and a damn good reason to concentrate on the treasures from the past and avoid "il mundo top 40"!
