CONCEPT ALBUMS

i meant to post this some weeks ago after i saw a comment MARKY made it was something like 'i hate concept albums' :o and i was puzzled as id have had marky down as a millie jackson CAUGHT UP/STILL CAUGHT UP fan i love those albums and millie toured a lot round that time which made her shows even better,i saw her as much as i could and always tried to get front row seats and usually did but i was the one sat there trembling as she cast her eyes over the audience looking for somebody to drag on stage thinking 'please millie dont pick me im not ready to be eaten alive' :lol: she cast her eyes my way but i think my expression saved me
i have always loved these albums and usually put them away for a yearly treat[due now] and that caught up ending still gives me shivers, and the all i want is a fighting chance track always raises a smile..-'hey aint that mrs jody over there...hey mrs jodie [yeeees] hey mrs jodie im like an old relative of yours since ive been goin with your husband for the past year and a half that would make us wife -in -laws,you know what im sayin.
mrs jody replies are you crazy what the HELL are you talkin about are you crazy,what the hell is wrong with yout!!!! these are great albums to reccomend to people who dont really know anything about soul music but want to give it a go, and it works everytime,last year a friend asked me to reccomend an album i reccomended caught up and within a week he was back beggin for the title of the second album he then took it into work and the entire office got into it 8)
or maybee your a CITY OF ANGELS-THE MIRACLES fan,did you pick up the album for the disco cuts [moreso in the states as you had no overture single release there] or did you really like ALL the album,or any other coceptie album faves :)

What I meant was...I didn't care for the concept albums based on classic literary works; The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Wuthering Heights, and yes, even Romeo & Juliet.

Not that I didn't like some of the songs (especially "Love Attack") --just that the idea of retelling a classic work of fiction to a disco beat seemed rather absurd & trivial. :o

Donna Summer's concept LPs like "Once Upon a Time" were wonderful. Ditto Miss Millie Jackson. :D

But trivializng Shakespeare or Victor Hugo or a Bronte' sister to a disco beat seemed a pretentious and silly thing to do. :roll:
If disco had been allowed to live, what could have looked forward to hearing?
"Disco Ulysses"???? "Disco Medea"???? Disco King Lear"????

We don't love it: we adore it, we embrace it, we cherish it, we live for it, we will heavily defend it, we'll protect it, we'll nurish it,
we won't let people say anything bad about it, we'll cocomote it, if used we'll replace it, but sending you hate mail? We won't do it!
