DD,
What I meant was...I didn't care for the concept albums based on classic literary works; The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Wuthering Heights, and yes, even Romeo & Juliet.
Not that I didn't like some of the songs (especially "Love Attack") --just that the idea of retelling a classic work of fiction to a disco beat seemed rather absurd & trivial. :o
Donna Summer's concept LPs like "Once Upon a Time" were wonderful. Ditto Miss Millie Jackson. :D
But trivializng Shakespeare or Victor Hugo or a Bronte' sister to a disco beat seemed a pretentious and silly thing to do.
If disco had been allowed to live, what could have looked forward to hearing?
"Disco Ulysses"???? "Disco Medea"???? Disco King Lear"????
The mind reels....
Just my personal pet peeve. I know ya looooves yer "Romeo & Juliet", kidz!!! Yikes!!!! I guess I can expect hate mail???? :P :P :P
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
