The SUPER DISCO BRAKES is a series of 6 albums released in the early 80s by the Paul Winley label out of Harlem.
The 6 albums include many of the most famous breaks that were used by the pioneers of the hip hop scene in NY in the 70s.
All of these records are a sort of bootlegs since Paul Winley had a personal concept of copyrights.
Many if not all of these LPs have been reissued several times in the years but their sound quality keep beein terrible

I totally agree with Giovanni. I bought several of these in one shopping spree awhile back because of the sometimes hard to find titles listed. I wish I'd only sampled one before buying several others cause they are recorded very poorly and have lostsa snap, crackle & pops (like pouring milk on your Rice Krispies) on what is suppsed to be new vinyl.

Be very wary. Don't say you weren't warned.

I agree with Giovanni. I own all 6 albums. They include some hard-to-find classics, but the sound quality is poor. Also, you might want to check out Afrika Bambaattaa's Death Mix on Paul Winley's label. The record features some live mixing by Bambaattaa and friends (e.g. Jazzy Jay) and some mceeing. If you think that the recording of the Super Disco Brakes leaves a lot to be desired, you'll be appalled when you listen to the Death Mix.

These LPs were notorious back in the day for the cue-burned and plain worn-out material they featured. Not all of them were that bad, but the recent pressings of the Paul Winley titles are bootlegs of bootlegs, so the sound is twice as poor.
