That's sad news indeed, he was quite an intersting musical figure. I'm still searching in vain for an original vocal version to Magic Disco Machine's 'Trying To Get Over', which is certainly one of his more left-field moments.

It is disappointing news; I just read it in USA Today so I went here to see if it had been posted. I think he was quite underrated; the media seem to never talk about the Sylvers, or Tavares anymore, and rarely Peaches & Herb, let alone his great production for them. I never even saw a report about his stroke so long ago. What do you think about if the surviving Impressions remade "Freddie's Dead" with different lyrics to be about Perren, not a junkie? Strange? Cool? Bad taste?
