This song snippet is playing on a constant loop in my damn head and I can't figure out what it is.
I'm hearing a male vocal, someone like Smokey Robinson singing...
"I hear a melody each time you speak to me (or smile at me)..la la la la-- la laaaaaa"
This is like the bridge of the song and having done a title search at AMG, it doesn't appear to be the title.....
What is this from? :o :o :o :o :o

Hey Marky,
how is it possible you can't recall MELODIES, one of the pillars of the disco sound!
Merry Xmas
I never had this record before. I probably had heard it--but it still slips my mind even after I bought it!!!!
I actually know much less than I pretend to know.![]()
Oh, and Merry Christmas to you too, Dr. Giovanni in Florence, Italy!!! :D :D :D
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hold on....It's not "Melodies"..even though that record does have all the criteria I specified.
I can hear this melody so clearly in my head. It's most likely not disco. It might be old Motown....or a Quiet Storm type tune. (Seventies-Eighties, I'd guess.)
It's got a musicbox/chime quality in the arrangement... (it's tinkly!!!)
I hear a melody...(going up the scale)
each time you smile at (look at) me (going down the scale)
la la
la la
la, laaaaaaaaaa
then three chords, daaaa--daaa--daaaa
Repeat .
It must be something I played recently...Teena Marie, maybe...can't recall if it's a male or female vocal...it seems like it should be very obvious.
Any help appreciated. It's driving me nuts!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
MARKY you couldnt mean MR MELODY NATILIE COLE on capitil from the mid 70s?... hey mis-ter melo-dee.....
Hey DD,
No, it's not Natalie Cole. The lyric is exactly as I wrote. I can hear it so clearly in my head. YIKES!!!!
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I have the feeling that this snippet I'm trying to recall is not the actual chorus of the song...but maybe a bridge between the verse and the chorus??? It has that kind of sound..something connecting, something leading to the chorus.... And then again, I may be wrong about that.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Mystery solved. I figured it's gotta be something I've been listening to...so I pulled out Nicky Siano's The Gallery CD. Track 5 comes on..... BINGO!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
It's "We're Getting Stronger" by Miss Loleatta Holloway. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
The melody that's haunting me is in the opening "la la la la's"
Then there is a bridge she sings only once:
"I hear a melody each time you're next to me
La la la la la laaaaaaa
I hear a melody now that you're close to me
La la la la la laaaaaaa."
God bless the chile that answers his own. :P
Thank gawd that's over.![]()

When Made In USA played at Syracuse University (Feb. '78, roughly), all of their equipment had "Crown Heights Affair" written all over it. Was Made In USA a Crown Heights spin-off like Unlimited Touch was later on?

Hey Boodi,
Well both Made in USA & CHA recorded for De-Lite. The LP I just bought was a De-Lite mixed affair with the full verision of "Melodies" and lotsa CHA, Kay Gee's, etc..
I think it was cleverly titled "Saturday Night Disco" or something like that!!!
