Great song!
This week's artist is France Joli. My favorite from her is a song I sadly don't have in my collection, "Come To Me." I just love that song.
Find them and destroy them!
Great song!
Well, Paul, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!!!
I was thinking about takin' over your franchise--BUT I figured we'd
ALREADY DONE Miss Ross, so....
As for France Joli, my choice is "The Heart To Break The Heart" from 1980.
I didn't care much for Miss Joli's attempts at funkier R&B stuff. None of those songs stick in my memory. Every time I hear them, it's like I never heard them before. NOT a good sign, in my book.
Just like her Hyper-Drama Queen stuff: "Come To Me" & "THTBTH".
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Don't Let Go was a great song from France Joli's first LP.
Honorable mention: Your Good Love
Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!
Never liked any of her stuff too much. With the likes of Gaynor, Summer, and Cory Dey around---who needed a Joli?
The only one: "Gonna Get Over You".
SENHORES DO GROOVE - BRAZIL
Hard to pick just one favorite France Joli record. Besides the obvious choices--the superbly orchestrated "Come to Me" and "THTBTH" (never mind that pointlessly extended remix that followed a few years later)--I also have fond memories of "Gonna Get Over You" and "Girl in the '80s."
I really liked a lot of songs on her "Witch of Love" LP too, an LP most people seem to have missed.
Vive le France!
\"...a once in a lifetime feeling that returns every week...\"
Sorry about being late with this. Now it's you (Marky) and Delight I have to contend with if I get caught slacking offOn 2002-06-10 01:18, markydefad wrote:

BTW, you'd be more than capable of taking over my franchise. In fact, I kinda like your subject header for this, "Artist Of The Week." Hmmm? Anyway, I'll hold on to this a little bit longer.

Hey Fan. Give her one more shotOn 2002-06-10 07:14, Fantomas wrote:

"Come To Me" is my favorite song of hers.
Hey Paul,
I thought you were retired leaving #12 as the last one. I figured that you were busy so I'll be patient. My all time favorite of France Joli is "The Heart To Break The Heart". Coming in a close second is "Come To Me".
*DISCO DELIGHT*
Sorry, Paul.
Don't think I know any France Joli tracks apart from "Come To Me"
If it moves - funk it!!
"Don't Let Go", a gem from her debut album.
When there was this discussion of everyone's favorite moments in disco songs going on, I immediately thought about this one. That moment when, after the percussive intro & spoken part, France says: "...but I love him too much...and I can't let go", and then the full orchestra kicks in... Beautiful! One of the reasons I keep Tony Green so high on my Best Disco Producers List.
