    "Undecided Love" The Chequers

I'm listening to my "Disco Gold, Volume 2" cd and wondering if there was ever a vocal version of "Undecided Love"? The track on the cd is all instrumental except for a brief singing of "Undecided Love" (3 times); so was this the original version or an instrumental side of a vocal A-side?

BTW, this cd is really good. Most of the tracks made the charts in NYC, at least.

Nothing is as STELLAR as the Patti Jo "Make Me Believe In You" from volume 1...but I'd say, on the whole, it's actually more consistently memorable than volume one.

CHINESE KUNG FU - Banzaii (4:59)
EL BIMBO - Bimbo Jet (3:55)
    BREAKAWAY - Ernie Bush (5:35)
UNDECIDED LOVE - The Chequers (6:08.)
    WATERBED - L.T.G. Exhange (5:47)
MUD WIND - The South Side Movement (4:33)
(BABY) SAVE ME - The Secrets (4:30)
(CALL ME YOUR) ANYTHING MAN - Bobby Moore (6:17)

    "A Tom Moulton Mix"

It's on Hot Classics. I still see it at Amoeba....so it's out there.

My original Scepter 7' 'Tom Moulton mix' clocks at 5:35 with only those vocals at the end, the short version on the flip doesn't even have that.

I search everywhere for this CD and found it of all places at Walmart (online). It took all my strengh to place the order from there but finally broke down since apparently is very hard to get.

Thanks for the info Mixmachine. So I guess there never was a vocal version...interesting cause it sounds the the instrumental track of a record that had a vocal on the A-side. Like the instrumental version of Moment of Truth's "Helplessly" that's on that "Studio 54" cd.

MixMachine is right on. The original had almost no vocal except that "Undecided Love" repeated at the ending. I remember way back then thinking it was so odd to bring such sparse vocals up when the song is almost over. I got over it quickly cause I luuuvs it! :D

Marky: Ever since I had the vinyl of DG2, the only song I cared about was The Chequers. Now DG1 --- Patti Jo rules. Both cuts! And "We're On The Right Track" was real, real popular.

Yes there is indeed a vocal version of this song which I downloaded on MP3 back in early 2002 from Audio Galaxy I think from memory. It is a short 2:38 version but it is full lyrics and everything, I'm assuming it originated from a 7" 45.
Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!

Interesting --- I would need to hear this as I truly don't remember any vocals. The song was basically instrumental until the closing minutes.

    Yes there is the vocal!

SCEPTER SDJ-12412 (promo only release) from 1975
this is almost impossible to be found

UNIDISC UNI 1073 - this is a release from 1982 that also has Jesse Green's "Nice and slow"

I also have a mysterious mp3 that is 8:44 long and with vocal (probably a current edit)

What a coincident. I just purchased a new Robbie Leslie 2 CD compilation at Medium Rare last week, "Morning's Journey 2," and this song was included with vocals! BTW, the compilation is really nice if you're looking for music more oriented to Philly soul/disco.

Keefe, what other songs are on this cd?

Have you noticed on some of Robbie's tapes/cds he mixes into a song and then mixes back into the previous song for a few seconds?

I'll have to jot down the playlist when I get home, NRG. I know he included quite a few of his own remixes like one of the Ritchie Family's "Lawrence Of Arabia," as well as a couple of his remixes we danced to at the first Trocadero Reunion Party in April (Detroit Emeralds "Feel The Need," Barry White "Your The First, The Last, My Everything," and I think the Mighty Clouds of Joy, "Mighty High") . He also uses the wonderful "Bring On The Love" by Gloria Jones in the set.

I noticed Robbie going back and forth into a song on maybe a handful of ocassions. I'll have to pay more attention to that now!
