Once again... Let's read half of the post...then put out the fire, with gasoline.

When did I EVER say that it was not possible to do a remake based on the...

You know what? Just forget it.

    fire ?? .... gasoline?? :icon_mad:
that's a bit overdramatic wouldn't you say Stephen??

You know there are bound to be times when members have differing views from one another including yours ....as is their right.....same happens with me .... don't make it such a big deal... it's not a personal attack ... it's called a discussion .

    STEPHEN L. FREEMAN :
And..FINALLY...regarding the similarities between Revolucion and Macho...

The answer is in your own sentence. BOTH songs were written by Winwood and Davis. And BOTH Disco versions were based upon the ORIGINAL basslines & rythmn tracks.

What you're hearing is Don Ray/Cerrone and Malavasi/Taylor, copying Winwood and Spencer. Not eachother.
When you assert that the reason Macho's I'M A MAN sounds so much like Konga's GIMME SOME LOVIN' is not because anybody is imitating anybody ...but simply the natural result of 1) both projects being centered upon songs written by Winwood and Davis .... and 2) both versions being based upon the original basslines and rhythm tracks ..... I point to Star City to remind you that that conclusion is not necessarily so.

And come on ....you are not suspicious of the ample similarities between Macho & Kongas ???

I wish Don Ray had continued with this sound. This is my favourite Crystal Grass LP (sorry for the little tangent). I'm not too crazy about the extended dance tracks that Costandinos et al were known for, at least not in large doses. The third cut is my favourite on the LP. The last one reminds me of KC & The Sunshine Band. Ray produced or arranged this LP as Ray Donnez.

Stories like these have a tendancy to create their own life/evolution.
I believe this thread is the proof of that.

If you look at the timeline, it all makes sense. I feel that's the difference. If you weren't there, it's harder to realize which record was released prior or after one another. Also if you would have lived in that era, it would be much easier to notice trends, evolution, copy-cats, and originalities.

It's a pity not all of us were that lucky to experience that great era. I believe that's why we turn to a place like this, and have our trust in the people who did.

Therefore I would like to show ye gratitude to all the ones who take this passion we have serious, and post trustworthy comments.

...and talking about accuracy, the album recorded between november and december 1978 and produced by Cerrone is Révelacion, NOT Revolucion.
