    Your choices:

    A) Cher
    B) Bette Midler
    C) Liza Minnelli
    D) Diana Ross
    E) Barbra Streisand

    Let the guessing begin.......................

    Gay Disco Icon: Diva Category

Wasn't it Cher? -- Something like "Take Me Home?"

Although I don't think Cher counts as a Gay-worshipped Diva 'cause drag queens don't do her nearly as much as the other women mentioned on your list!

Guys, I'm talking the end of 1975 here. One of those aforementioned ladies hits the Billboard Disco Charts.

"Take Me Home" is from 1979.
"No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" is from 1979 also.

"Love Hangover" is closer to what I'm looking for and probably what I would have suspected to be the right answer--early 1976....but this record is more obscure.

MISS ROSS WAS NOT THE FIRST DIVA TO GO DISCO.

Put on your thinking caps and try to remember way back when.

    Good guess, VS...

BUT NO!!!!, you are NOT CORRECT, SIR!!!

That would have been my second guess after Miss Ross.

Bette & Diana do chart in early 1976---but someone else beats them to the charts. Who is it?????

It was an LP track that did actually get a "special disco" remixed extended version. I first found this out back in the Napster days when I downloaded it from someone's collection. I only had the LP version.

This record first hits on the Boston chart at the end of November...then a few weeks later is listed on at least one NYC retail chart for several weeks.

We have a WINNER, folks!!!! nrg, take a bow or a curtsy. Your choice.

Miss Barbra charted her cover of the Four Tops hit "Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over)" for the first time on the Boston list 11/29/75. It's mentioned later on certain NYC retail lists. Never crosses over to the Moulton DJ "A" list....but nevertheless....

Barbra, was the FIRST, of course.

I remember David Mancuso first playing this at The Loft. What a crowd reaction! When I finally got the promo 12" I was (and still am) soooo disappointed because of the crappy pressing. Maybe my copy is just a fluke, but it sucks. Especially since it's a better mix than the lp.
