I don't know about this one but I always found that the version of "I've found a love" that's included in the Casablanca Story-box was not a good choice. That's why I'm pleading to Sir Alec to re-issue his original stuff.
NOW!!!
I found a 12" the other day with the famous Alec R. Costandinos - Romeo and Juliet. It is not the original 12". I think its from a bootleg. The length is the full 15 minutes however it sounds different from the original 12". It has more reverb and it has some echos on some of the words. Does anyone know anything about this version?

The version of I Found Love that was on the "Casablanca Records Story" box set was an abomination, along with the edit of "Romeo and Juliet". Obviously, that box set was not the entire "story" of Casablanca Records (the omission of Kiss is a no-brainer) but if you can get your hands on the original vinyl releases then that is all you need. I doubt we'll ever see a new Constandinos "greatest" package, unless it's an import from Europe, where disco music is taken more seriously than in the country of its own birthplace.Originally Written by Videoskooter

Salsoul,
Luckily I still own most of the original Costandinos-stuff on vinyl coz like we all know most of the (few) cd-stuff is not the real thing.
But Bernie already mentioned that Sir Alec refuses to release his back-catalogue on cd. For what reason, I don't know. Is he ashamed? Is it a copyright problem, like Quinny supposes?
All the people who like his classics: cherish that vinyl !
I have a copy of Love And Kisses from 1977 (with "I Found Love" and "Accidental Lover") on vinyl and it is truly something else. The music was as hot as the front album cover. Whether there will be reissues or not, his vinyl LPs are worth having.Originally Written by Videoskooter

Does anybody what kind of style this Costandinos'album is?

This is actualy not from a Costandinos LP. This was in the mid 80s in France and a production and writing only thing. Was the theme to a French sci fi cartoon and the artist is Frank (spelling?) Oliver. From what i've heard it was quite popular in France in the mid 80s..but dont know much about it other than that. Alec's offical final LP as the guy we all know (aliases included) was "Americana" in 1981 released only in EU areas.Originally Written by Videoskooter

nope. Its a red label and its says remixed by the bird. On the flip side is a 10 minute medley of early to mid 80s freestyle.
Yes it's a bootleg and not a bad one as such or what, one of those things you can pick up from Porte de Clignancourt flea market city in Paris, along with re-edits of all sorts, all without either the actual name of the track or with no mention of the artist: Going Up In Smoke by Eddie Kendricks with additional/reworked instrumental passages, 8 minutes long exceptionally well done job, booming sound quality, Lust by Rinder&Lewis with more of everything but only so-so sound quality, My Sweet Summer Suite by Love UnLTD Orch, which is exactly the same as the legit edit, only vastly inferior as a pressing. The bootleg/white label stalls also offer a very interesting version of Love Hangover but these tend to be truly abysmal quality. Beware - highly illegal stuff all of the above!Originally Written by mixtape
The bootleg I found years ago is titled (The Real) "Romeo & Juliet". It's the b-side of a 'demonstration' pressing. The a-side is "Love De Lux". The label is R & S Records Inc., which released several bootlegs B-I-T-D, including "Give Me Your Love" by Sisters Love, "Love Hangover" by Diana Ross (An extension of the Disconet version, it's longer than the version on her Deluxe Edition "Diana" cd but a pure crap pressing. :x ), "Risky Changes" by Bionic Boogie and "Sugar Pie Guy" by The Joneses, amongst others. All their bootlegs are sub-titled "A Disco Classic".
This version of "R & J" takes side 2 of the lp (Acts III, IV, V) and extends the original 2-and-one-half-minute intro into a song of its own. A small piece of the last Act is used as a melodic break then it goes back into the re-worked "horn & bass" intro. A voice overlay of "****, GODDAM, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND JAM" attempts to pump up this last section. There are no other vocals except when the record fades and you hear, "Put that record back on!" (Puh-leeeeze  ).
If I were to hazard a guess, I would say this a "Danny Krivitz" working as it has the same structures used in his workings of "Give Me Your Love" and "Caress" by Caress (Boris Midney). Again, that's just a wild assumption on my part --- no proof whatsoever.
Wow, that mix of R&J sounds pretty boaring and sample rampage honestly by the description LOL. I've heard Danny K's edits of Caress and a few others and really didnt care for them for this same reason..but, thats just my taste and opinion![]()
