LOF,
My white label Salsoul 12" clocks in at 8:14 and contains the cold strings ending that you describe.
I have a version of Gary Criss - Rio De Janeiro on Salsoul Records that's a Special Disco Mix @ 7:11. My question for you "Was there another remix version of this song available?" I remember back on KTU in New York during Paco's days that the strings section provided a cold ending during another version. Please let me know! Thanks......

Thanks Bernie!
I'll come across that 12" version in the near future.
Salsoul Records needs to check their time, because they short changed me on that version.

Dear Lord Of Flatbush! There´s a 12" of
"Rio De Janeiro" as Special 12 Inch Disco
Mix released on Salsoul 1977 and is about
6:14 Minutes long.
On the album "Rio De Janeiro" you´ll find
the another version with open strings ending
8:11...which I like much more.

Thanks once again! The 8:11 version is the one that I'm searching for. I've heard that version before and I enjoyed it most of all. The 7:11 version was just a tease only when the congos break appeared, then the guitar riff following it.
