I have another LP by Keith Barrow. It comes from 1980 and is titled "Just as I am", out on Capitol records ST 12112. Produced by Ralf Affoumado. Quite obscure.....
I just played "Turn Me Up" which is from his Physical Attraction lp. I didn't pay attention back in the day but this sure sounds like an Eddie Kendricks ripoff. Was this intentional or did Mr. Barrow just have it this way? I don't know anything on his background.
BTW, here's another album cover with mildy suggestive gay overtones. The artist's rendition has Keith and Lady facing each other in foreground with her arms around his waist. Off to leftside and background is Dude leaning against wall, dressed all in black, eyes fixed on Keith. Something else I missed while playing these cuts I guess.

Wish I could help you Nicky but all I have is a 45 of Barrow's You Know You Wanna Be Loved.

Nicky, I had the misfortune of being at a club (the I-Beam) when Keith Barrow was the surprise guest artist. Bleh! He thought he was being entertaining as he skipped and danced all over the stage (nonstop)! We all thought he was either hyperactive or on severe speed or just another dizzy queen (probably all of the above). Anyway, my point is that he was obviously gay.
Keith Barrow's sexual preference or any outlook to that degree shouldn't have been the issue.

The fact is that the song was a hit back then for Columbia Records and as 12" single.

Hi L/F,
Please don't take offense. The reason the issue was raised is because when this thread was running back in November we were also discussing "gay-oriented album covers" and/or "covers with strong sexual themes". My remark and those following were just follow-ups, not meant to be derogatory.
BTW - Your knowledge of music seems quite extensive. Thanks for sharing and nice having you here.

No offense at all, Nick....

Just keeping it real with the times. You know when Keith Barrow came out with the LP for that single, it was just a picture with him smiling on the cover. In the disco era, some album covers were explicit, some gay overtones, etc. Remember the days, if there was a beautiful woman or women taking a pretty pose, a DJ or music lover would buy the album; Even if they didn't hear the album before, they would purchase it for that reason. Trust me Nick, nothing personal.
Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!
