I thought about this because I have been playing the 54 cd almost daily from the moment I bought it 6 weeks ago. I believe there are 2 54 cds based on the soundtrack. The one I have features songs such as The Boss, and Move On Up. I have every song on that cd but I bought it because one of you said Que Sera Mi Vida sounded better on this cd than on the Gibson Bros. compilation. Well, I agree. I think most if not all were remastered.
As I said I had all these songs before but I love the way the music flows in this compilation. I really recommend it.
So, do any of you have a favorite recent purchase?
Find them and destroy them!
"Everyone knows the real reason why you got that part it was the time you spent on that casting couch"--Antoine Merriwether
"Excuse me, Miss Thing, but both of us spent time on that couch"--Blaine Edwards
I recently found Rick James "Bustin' out of 7" but it's not his best effort when you check out the whole album.
Another one is "Music Machine Soundtrack" which I bought for 1
Euro. A few good ones on it but it generally sucks.
Nice cd reissues of:
- Con Funk Shun - "7"
- One Way Feat. Al Hudson
- Maynard Ferguson - Conquistador
- Donald Byrd - Caricatures
Have recently been added to my collection.
"The funk is on" (1980) by Instant Funk. I was surprised at how good this one is. I presumed they were past their prime by then. And I remember hearing "Everybody" at the clubs... maybe their best album.
The recent most exciting purchase was ''Give Your Body Up Vol.1'' (Rhino) a few months ago. The CD includes hard-to-find-on-cd tunes ''Why Leaves Us Alone'' (Five Special) & ''Bad For Me'' (Dee Dee Bridgewater). I have been enjoying playing them. What is important is the CD's sound quality is also good. :D
paul, I think your just addicted to Miss Selma...Originally Written by paul
My favorite recent purchase was the 12" version of Love Parade by the Dream Academy.
Well, Rab. If there's a cure for it I don't want it :DOriginally Written by Rab
By the way, it's Salma

My new thrilling find is a Brazil pressing of Peter Jacques Band's "Fire Night Dance" on CD. Most likely a bootleg (it's on VIP Records, for those who care), but the sound quality is superb.
As you know I'm a huge fan of Funkmeister Bohannon and just when I tought I owed most of his stuff I discovered a Unidisc-release from 1997 which is called "A bit of the past":
1. "The new generation fanfare (Bohannon fanfare)": 1.17
2. "Let's start II dance again(part II): 8.01 (normal version)
3. "What is a dream (part II): 5.15
4. "Thoughts and wishes (part II): 5.23
5. "I'm thinking of you": 3.38
6. "Thank you for loving me Andrea": 7.14
7. "The party train": 7.34
8. "Let's start II dance again (rap version)":7.35
9. "Don't be ashamed to call my name": 5.07
10. "It's time to wake up": 5.30
11. "I wanna dance all night": 4.07
12. "The symphonic march (disco march)": 8.19
Now 1,3,5,6,9,10,11,12 were completely unknown to me
But I guarantee you that 12 is a killer, awesome track!
I recently bought a 3CD package by SWING OUT SISTER.
Besides album tracks and B-sides (sorry!), the 3rd CD has club mixes of their hits BREAKOUT, SURRENDER, TWILIGHT WORLD plus mixes of not hits such as ALONE, etc... but the material is fantastic.
Swing Out Sister (even today) is my favourite group.
