    RECORDS WE HAVE LOVED #10 KC & SUNSHINE BAND - THAT'S T

KC & SUNSHINE BAND - THAT'S THE WAY (I LIKE IT)

No excuses for having this record in this series of topics. It was an absolute monster, both on the world's dancefloors and radio waves. What an opening 2 lines, eh?
Oh, that's the way, uh huh, uh huh,
I like it, uh huh, uh huh
    .

    How could it fail?

    Yes, it was poppy.
    Yes, it was infectious.
    Yes, it was overplayed.
Yes, it has become a serious sickener since, due to its omnipresence on a huge number of CD compilations, but it sums up disco for me as much as any others from the period and I can still enjoy it, after what must be, thousands of listens.

For my money, KC and the band were as relevant and as good as any other band you care to name. That infectious, swinging, light funk sound that they captured made me and the punters smile, made us happy and moreover made us all dance.

They truly were THE SOUND OF SUNSHINE.

Smile upon it, nervously grin, feign a raised eyebrow, or trash mercilessly. Whatever mashes your potatoes.

The opening vocals in that crescendo wail were the hook that simply grabbed you and got your body moving instantly.Classic killer dance floor track. This was a great song to simply drop mix at the end of an abrupt ending song or cut.

    O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o,O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.Ahh that's the way uh,uh, I like it uh,uh.
    :D :D :D

It IS a classic but, like you said, overplayed.

I rarely put that record on, almost only when people ask for it.

But give me "Get down tonight", "Shake your booty", "Queen of clubs" and I'm enjoying!

Yes, yes. Like most everyone here I rarely play this song for the reasons stated. I remember this song mostly for this babe I used to like but didn't have the balls to pursue. Hey, I was young, dumb, and fulla cum 8)
    Find them and destroy them!

ewwwwww! that was pretty graphic young man... :-? :P

anyways, when I saw STARKY & HUTCH at the theater.... it roared over the THX loud surround sound speakers.... I was definitely moving my neck back and forth like a chicken... :D

Awesome song when it first came out.... followed by heavy rotation on radio... followed by put the song away for a long time... I play this song maybe once a year at shows... as mentioned above... I get better results with GET DOWN TONIGHT...
