Don't know about a re-make, but I have an original 78 of that song from the forties.
Do any of you know about a record done by the surviving Andrews Sister, Maxene, in the 1980s that was a Disco version of their original '40s hit "Drinking Rum and Coca-Cola."
Maxene was the only one of 'em who could sing harmony, and according to my source, she dubbed all the vocal parts on this '80s record well into her old age.
I've tried the internet but to no avail; and it's not listed here. Anyone?

JD,
I searched the net but didn't come up with it.
You are not referring to the Stars On 45-project, "The Star Sisters" who did a medley of the famous Andrew-records????
Love it our hate it, but it was pretty well done.
My source just confirmed that, although the record was cut, it remains as a master and WAS NEVER RELEASED but for a 1/4" full-track tape to those who were involved with the project. No doubt my source is a doddering old fool who got me started -- much ado over nothing!
Now I've found out who owns the original tune and I'm trying to get my source to give up who owns the masters, or a copy of the tape; so I can purchase permission for a limited CD release. Stay tuned for more.
Sorry, guys -- thanks for your input.
