    Cold Case --- Hot Music

I thought some of you might get a kick out of this because of previous discussions.

CBS television has a show which airs on Sunday at 8 PM called Cold Case. In a nutshell, detectives re-open unresolved past cases and try to close them and convict the bad guys.

Last night, the case was from 1979. Plot: The killing of a prostitute filmed by the 'john'. The show opened with the 'ladies of the night' working the street corner and Donna Summer's "Bad Girls" 8) playing in the background. During the 'filming' of the hooker's death, the producers chose to use "My Sharona" by The Knack :o as background.

Well, it may not have killed disco but "My Sharona" sure didn't help this young lady.

I saw this show last night also. I was amused at the song choices. However, the big prom ballad was KC's "Please Don't Go" which was not released in May of 1979 when the "hooker" was killed. This was a fall of 1979 tune.

They played "Bad Girls" for the street scenes; "Ring My Bell" for some girlfriend chats; "My Sharona" for the supposed "snuff" film scenes.

***I just thought of this: at the end of the show, they played the theme from "The Goodbye Girl" by former Bread frontman David Gates.**** Subtle, eh? She was dead. "Goodbye Girl".

Oh, and "I d Really Love To See You Tonight" by England Dan & John Ford Coley, was in thee too.

I've always contended that "My Sharona" was the death knell of disco. No one agrees with me... except maybe the producers of Cold Case"??? :o

The best new show I hope all of you with senses of campy humor is the brilliant "Desperate Housewives" on ABC at 9:00 pm. This show rocks my world!!! 3 episodes and each has been crafted so perfectly..I watch the reruns on Saturday night and wait with bated breath for next week's episode!!!

Truly a "Tales of the City" meets a suburban "Sex & the City" type of creation. Created by a big ole GAY, Marc Cherry. Saw him on Oprah with the 5 female leads; ain't no doubt in my mind.
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

I can't get into "Desperate Housewives", but it's been getting a lot of press lately.
