i've always enjoyed disco as well as all kinds of uptempo music ever since i was a little kid.....growing up and still living in san francisco one of the 1st places i went to buy disco songs was at aloha records...in the heart of the castro district, the 1st time i walked up the stairs it was so cool because that was the 1st time i saw a dj setup in a music store...the people who worked there were so helpful to me...looking back,i must have seemed like the biggest pest because i just kept asking a lot of questions about music...i was maybe 14 or 15,i didn't know what a import was or what a white label was....i remember one time i went there and it seemed like everyone was buying this one album...i never heard of the group, but the man behind the dj booth played a couple of songs from it for me. that was so cool of him cause he actually opened a copy of the album and i was kinda nervous cause i didn't know if i was going to buy it or not....it turned out to be a great classic album called the double album by tantra.....sometimes i wish that it could somehow open up again and sell the same quality of music that it used to....some of the other places i used to buy music in san francisco were at butch wax records, ron's records(where i used to get hot tracks and razormaid records at),vera's vinyl, streetlight records, soul disco records, the record rack and star records....i know that i'll always like dance music for the rest of my life and going to these stores always left me with a good feeling cause of the thoughtfulness of the people helping me find good music that turned out to be a part of my life... :D
