I recall that several months ago someone here stated that he thought "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper" by Sarah Brightman and Hot Gossip was one of the greatest disco songs EVER. Well, uh, OK...
(Maybe it's time to resurrect that fluffy novelty number now that a new Star Wars movie has been released...?)
Anyway, I just discovered another disco record by the pre-Phantom Miss Brightman: "The Adventures of the Love Crusader" from 1979 (and on red vinyl). I'd never heard (or heard OF) this one before, and the first time I played it I was not impressed.
But during the second play I picked up on a "Rumor Has It" riff at one point, not to mention liberal borrowing (OK, ripping off) of "I Feel Love" and "Stop! In the Name of Love." Now I can't get this cheesy record out of my head!
But then, I have been known to enjoy the campy numbers that most other listeners spit on...!
To each his own.
No wonder Brightman married the toady ALW, huh? Given her early recording career, even Cats seemed respectable!
