I have POS 1205 Mynk - Get Up And Dance (Dance With Me) which I got back in -81.
I love it.
My Q is if the following records that I haven't heard is worth looking for. Are they as good as Mynk?
POS 1201 Ritz I Wanna Get With You -80?
POS 1202 Glory Can You Guess What Groove This Is? -80?
POS 1203 Ritz Workin' Out -81
POS 1204 Glory Let's Get Nice -81
Ritz - I Wanna Get With You is the only one I have of those.
Produced by Arthur Baker from mermory. It's almost pure disco in sound and not as hard as Baker's more well known tracks from a little later. However, it's not quite as poppy as other Ritz releases either, sooo.....Certainly a record that'll stick in your brain after a few spins, but I personally wouldn't pay anything over $10 for it.
Ritz is OK. I don't think it's the UK(?) act Quinny may be thinking of, but his price estimate is right.
Glory's 'Can You Guess What Groove This Is' is a bit of medley, based around Kleeer's 'Keeep Your Body Workin'' and a few other big tunes from the late '70s. Not quite as corny as it sounds, but certainly a novelty record.
'Let's Get Nice' is a slowish, vocoder number from 1981. It's fairly average.
'Workin' Out' by Ritz is a little like Brass Construction's 'Music Makes You Feel Like Dancin'', but pretty lame. Not worth losing sleep over.
'We Come To Jam' by Blaze (another early Posse 12) is a little more successful, as a pastiche of Lakeside's 'Fantastic Voyage'.
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?

That would make a whole load o' sense. Perhaps I should have looked at the labels more closely in those dim disco lights?
Thanks for the info.
Forrrce - what do you think about Mynk. I think it's got a lot of energy and soul. One of my top 100 dance tracks.
Noman, I haven't heard it for a long time, but it's quite decent, if I remember. Sounds a little like Fatback's 'Backstrokin''...I'm sure it's produced by Fatback themselves.

Yes they are similar to some extent, part of the intro and the breaks have similar beat, but Mynk is more "forward" and aggressive, combined withe a very "disco/soul" chorus.
Nice that you have heard it even if it was a long time ago.
You and most of the people of this forum are an inexhaustible source of information :)
