There are many more readily available titles which go for a lot more than that...with a day to go, it'll probably end up doubling. :-?

Owning lots of old disco 12"s has become such an obsession for so many of late. I can't blame the charlatans who milk the eBay idiots out of $£ 100s for fairly common and/or average titles. They're fair game.

**** yea man LOLLL. Id do it rofllll. At one time actualy the reverse happened with gemm. There was 1 copy of the Costandinos "Contantly Yours" boot for like 10 bucks or so. I was thinkin bout buyin it and puttin it on ebay for what its actualy worth and makin some cash but...someone beat me to buying it..think it was a member of this forum too cause I remember someone comin up and sayin I bought one from gemm for 10 bucks right after I entered my copy into the vault here and found it on gemm. I thought oh well, I missed my chance to make a scam on ebay LOLLL

..we could always make bootlegg videos of the taco grande bixby though

    $200!!!

I saw that very same record at a flea market here in NYC two weeks ago for $4. Now granted, I didn't look at the condition, but geez.

I hate it that hipsters in NYC are buying up old vinyl for conversation pieces. I want my vinyl to actually play it...

Hold on... it gets even better. The guy who won that Cerrone record also bid and won on this Tenderness record.

Who are these people that bid ridiculously inflated prices? I sometimes think it is a ploy to artificially increase demand and prices on records. Wouldn't be surprised to see those records up for auction again and now really dumb people who don't know anything will believe the hype and bid stupid amounts. It's the herd mentality.

I think it's time for me to start listing some of my records to these suckers--I mean bidders.

Bernie, it gets even better than that. A quick check on Gemm reveals a copy of Tenderness for sale for $40 (still on the high side)....this guy paid over $100 on E-Bay...!! :D :o

Did the Cerrone actually go for $200? Leatherman has just sent me a link to Gladys Knight's 'It's A Better Than Good Time' on acetate, which is apparently longer than the Canadian Buddah 12, by some 7 minutes (hence the poor edit in the middle of the issue 12"). This could be astronomical at closing time. :o

Oh myy, it's crazy out there on ebay thats for sure LOL. This is why its very rare that I actualy use ebay. Not to mention, ya never know what your gonna get for condition of vinyl. Best bet for ebay is to hit the stuff that is actualy and true "rare". On gemm, sometimes you find good steals (like that Costandinos boot). But then ya find the crazy sellers...like the one with the "Romeo And Juliet" crap edit 12'' for 500.00 LOL..which on ebay, you can find it for under 10 all the time..its crazy out there ill tell ya.

I agree 100%. A 12" copy of Barry Manilow's Copacabana always goes up over $100 as well? And its the same version as whats on the LP. I always wanted a 12" copy of Marlena Shaw's "Touch Me in the Morning", but wont pay through the nose for it...I'll just enjoy the medley on her "Take A Bite" LP. But you do notice how popular American disco is overseas.

Actualy you should be able to find the 12'' mix of Touch Me In The Morning on the original 12'' and there was even a mid 80s reissue in the mixed master series which I see around from time to time at no more than 10 bucks. If your not needing it on vinyl, that mix is avalible on CD as well.

I notice that another copy of this 12" went for $61.00 2 days ago. My Italian friend also tried to win 2 other copies of this record which were auctioned on eBay in September, they went for $81.00 and $53.00 respectively (he obviously lost both, not willing to pay that amount).

There's obviously some serious hype for this particular 12 inch record, is it actually that good?

With all due respect Jimmy, maybe you are the moron for not buying all these cheap copies you recently saw? :-?

"Hooked On You" has always been rare on Black Sun 12" and has been selling for £100+ outside of ebay for some time. I suppose with the popularity of the recent house mix extra people are aware of the song and the price inflates even more. There was a Unidisc repress 12" which is maybe what you saw cheap?

E bay does often end up with over blown prices but this isn't so silly for this particular record.

A bit off topic ....Those links are not working for me, (cannot find server error)are they active? Also I can't use 'save as' as I did before for Ebay auctions, is it me? or did Ebay changed something to keep users from saving?

Naa this is the Black Sun 12'' I been seein through the time, not a Unidisc repress. Trust me, it aint worth no 100 bucks LOL LOL LOL! Ebay is by all means not the way to find out what a record is worth. If it was...then I guess Meco's gold vinyl promo 12'' with the exclusive edit of "Wizard Of Oz" is only worth 2 bucks (worth 43 bucks as of the collectors book price listing 2 years ago), and a sealed copy of the "Sat Night Fever" soundtrack is worth 200 plus bucks (which im sure you know, a sealed copy is not too hard to find and well, never checked book price but I can guarentee..it aint no 200 plus lol)..could go on about other funny as hell ebay auctions. You go by the collectors book price guide which, there are several out there updated each year. I'll honestly say, i'll have to research this Cerrone 12 when I can get to a library or if someone else could do it, it would be interesting to see what this record is really worth. And I do feel like a moron now for not buying em up when I saw em...I could be a rich man off Ebay rofllll. But ****, if im ever back in Tempe where I used to live (which is where all the goodwill stores are), i'll def buy a few :D

Just goes to show that a record is worth only what someone is prepared to pay for it. :-?

    Cerrone - Hooked on you

Well, now I know where I can sell my two copies for a hefty profit. Believe me they're not worth those prices, no matter how much I enjoy Cerrone's music. Let's talk about the Cerroen 12" single promo release of "Call me Tonight" that does not even have a catalog number on the Malligator label. Or the C. Orchestra 12" release of "Baby Love" also a Cerrone release that not many people are aware of. Those would be a find.

Actualy the "Call Me Tonight" promo with the "Africanisim" dub mix on the B side (labled as "Give Me Love") is worth 65 bucks by the book as of a few years ago. Is that the one your talkin bout?

The Malligator 12" of "Music of Life" must be one of his harder to find items.

With regards to "Hooked..." 12". This has always been very thin on the ground - at least in the UK. If I remember rightly, it came out quite late as a 12", so there wasn't that much interest in the song by then. Canadian pressings are always less well distributed here anyway. It doesn't turn up on eBay very often and when it does it always fetches this sum. I saw it on DJ Friendlys list for £100 about 5 years ago.

Even the parent LP is much less common that most of Cerrone's albums.

Is it worth $250? Is any record really worth that? But the bottom line is this has reached $200+ on several occasions, so it inarguably is worth that amount of money.

Wow, never heard of it. I find the the whole notion of Miami freestyle records being this collectable/valuable most strange.
