Underrated Bee Gees songs: 1) 'Can't keep a good man down'

I am a Bee Gees fan. I admit it. That's why I wanna talk about some Bee Gees disco / funk songs that weren't very popular, but I really like. Maybe some people can rediscover those songs and why not the Bee Gees themselves as disco / funk artists.

'Can't keep a good man down' from 'Children of the world' album (1976)

Interesting song. It's part disco, funk and R&B. Some parts of the song are definitively disco, just disco touches. But it's an R&B song. Or funk? Who knows. I really love the melody in the chorus. What do you guys think about this song? Do you like it? hate it? Indiferent? I wanna know your opinions.

I don't have the "Children Of The World" CD, so I cannot comment on that record, but I will say that one of the album's tracks, "Boogie Child", though released as a single, was a great song that never gets any airplay and hardly ever gets included on any Bee Gees' greatest hits packages.

I love 'Boogie Child' too, another underrated Bee Gees groovy and sexy song. I know some Bee Gees fans that hate it, though. My favourite part is the instumental bridge. Both horn and string sections are awesome.

And if you like 'Boogie child' but you don't have 'Can't keep a good man down', I definitively recommend that you hear it. If you don't want to buy the whole album, you could download the track from a music download service.

I'm surprised some Bee Gees fans dislike that song. I also thought the instrumental bridge was great and the whole arrangement in general was top-notch. Figures it would not be as successful as their other songs, but of course, I have a penchant for the more obscure material. I will check "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" out.

Blake from American Idol sang a song from the Bee Gees from back in the day called "This Is Where I Come In". Never heard of it and totally hated his 'be-bop" version of it. Kinda scared to hear the original now...........

This Is Where I Came In is from a 2001 LP of the same name. Let's just say the Bee Gees harmonies and studio expertise gave it more polish than poor Blake's beatbox version....

Yeah...the whole Children of The World album is good. My favourites were always "Can't Keep A Good Man Down", "Lovers", "Subway" and also the hits "You Should Be Dancin'", "Love So Right" and "Boogie Child". "You Stepped Into My Life" and "Love Me" were also good!!! This is a Bee Gees must album!!! Also check out "Main Course's" "Wind Of Change"!!!

I bought their Children Of The World CD last year; it is wonderful! All of the tracks are enjoyable. Their take on Yvonne Elliman's "Love Me" is one of my personal faves from this album. I highly recommend it!

Thumbs up Re: Underrated Bee Gees songs: 1) 'Can't keep a good man down'

Can't Keep a Good man Down is a decent track, as everyone has pointed out, the whole album is enjoyable from beginning to end. My faves off the LP are Love So Right and Subway.

actually, ALL of my favorite Bee Gees songs are obscure album tracks, all of their big hits have been so overplayed I never play them anymore. Take about 10 bucks to your local used music store and check out Gibb compositions/productions like Andy Gibb's "Why?", "One More Look at the Night", "Fool for the Night", "I Go for You". Barbra Streisand's "Promises", "The Love Inside". Dionne Warwick's "All the Love in the World", "Our Day Will Come". Or the Bee Gees "Subway", "Spirits (Having Flown)", "Until", "Boogie Child" or Kenny Rogers' "Hold Me" or "Eyes that See in the Dark". Also Diana Ross' "Chain Reaction", "Experience".
