If what you say is true, I guess I won't be watching The Tonight Show after 2009.
Jay Leno, the King of Late Night is stepping down at the end of his contract in ...2009.
Apparently his successor is allready known and will be the Mighty Conan O'Brien.
Question is: Will Conan now go more mainstream since his jokes and style are more edgier or will we see the same Conan and will NBC take this risk? And will Kevin Eubanks be replaced by the Max Weinberg 7?
What do you think? Be quick coz' 2009 is only a short time away.
If what you say is true, I guess I won't be watching The Tonight Show after 2009.
Oops-first hit at Conan I suppose.Originally Written by NickNack
That's what I'm curious about. Leno is funny but is more family-orientated. O' Brien is harder, more Pythonesque. I can't compare them to Letterman since we can not watch his show over here. We only have CNN and NBC here in Belgium.
I am afraid though that the general audience will not like Conan's style.
I like Conan too, he's more in line with Letterman, but more 'out there' with his comedy, Jay is always entertaining and innovating but a bit more layed back, I watch him the most but keep checking on Dave during those long and nasty commercial brakes.
I didn't know until the other day that Conan is seen overseas, he mentioned they only play in English speaking countries because it can't be dubbed, I wonder if you guys can catch all his jokes during the monolog, you'd have to keep up very close with american culture I'd guess.
By the way , Joss Stone will be performing tonite on JAY, I've got my recorder ready as I missed her before on Conan.
PS: Still, Carson was the best
Yeah, Mixmachine, you have to be in touch with American politics and media to enjoy Conan's jokes but usually i know what's going on. Also interesting with Conan are his guests. There it's a little bit more difficult for me coz' I don't know them all. Leno normally has the bigger stars.
Now we have CNBC that is showing both Leno and Conan during the weekends (4xLeno and 2x Conan) so we can not see the daily show and that's a pity. Before that we got superchannel and they gave Leno and O'Brien everyday and subtitled.
Too bad we can't catch Letterman and of course Johnny Carson was never broadcasted because he was there before cable and satellites.
And I never see Leno talking 5 minutes about his hair which Conan does regularly and is hilarious.
