I'm kinda supposed to come up with a few juicy ideas for a disco club night or two so if anybody's got any fun concepts let's hear them please! Like most of us I presume I too have been involved in all sorts of good/weird scenarios in clubs. At one time we had a barman dressed up as J.C, and he used to perform the miracle of turning water into wine, or beer if you were not too particular. That always got a good reaction. We also screened bits of obscure Asian musical numbers side to side with religious imagery from silent movies and Jehovah's Witness flicks and like, plus no frills just action bits of the notorious Danish early 70's outrage I Saw Jesus Die. And more porn. We pumped up the volume with Cerrone, Baccara, Gainsbourg etc for real good sleazy effect. Some patrons were appalled, most thought it was a hoot. Then there were the Hygiene nights during which people were shown films that demonstrated the evils of self-abuse, the shame of unnatural acts such as intercourse with a member of your own sex, and warned about the vices of alcohol and cigarette smoking. Gross clips out of 50's medical films added to the ambiance. Then the basic euro sleaze nights with scenes from Story of O and all the expected Italian soft core romps. We would spin disco and mix it with screams of Nina Hagen and Diamanda Galas, schlagers from Germany, a bit of dirty funk for good measure and all sorts of random tracks. Live strippers are always welcome aren't they? The mid-80's were a particulary ripe time for this kind of thing but they should still work well today at least in university towns.
