Yeah, I remember the club. It was on Broadway. Just above the financial district.
BUT, it was--Straight, Straight, Straight!!!!
So, NO I NEVER went there. But there was a club near there called, um...The City-- that I did go to some times. This was Gay & Straight but a little too trendy, upscale for my tastes. Jussi writes about this club in his book "Saturday Night Forever", but barely mentions Trocadero!!!! Why, Jussi, why???? I remember seeing Grace Jones there straddling a motorcycle, singing "I Need A Man". I thought she needed a vocal coach.
I liked the clubs South Of Market in the industrial warehouse side of town--Trocadero, especially. Dreamland and The End Up were down there too as well as all those Leather bars. Today, a few sleazy things exist down there...but, for the most part, it's been totally yuppified. ;(
