Most famous is probably Le Pamplemousse's "Le Spank", which is a shameless and admitted rip of Barry White's "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me"... although I think Spank actually got released first. I need to go check my dates on that...
Hey, everybody. I was listening to 'Dance, lady, dance' by Crown Heights Affair. Don't you think that is a TOTAL ripoff of 'Fly, Robin, Fly' by Silver convention? They are sooooo similar.
Do you know of any other ripoffs like this?

Didn't Erotic Drum Band's "Plug Me To Death" sound exactly like Pattie Brooks' "After Dark" sans vocals?

Talking about Silverconvention ''Fly Robin Fly'' (1975)
W. Michael Lewis (I think) played the same bassline of ''Fly Robin Fly'' on a song called ''Most of All'' (1979) on the second Saint Tropez album. But W. Michael Lewis change the bassline when the eletric piano solo of ''Most of All'' starts.

The arrangement of the second version of Sheila's "Seven lonely days" is inspired by Amii Stewart's "Knock on wood":
The mimetism goes so far that on this Polish release the credited writer of "Seven lonely days" is Eddie Floyd who actually co-wrote "Knock on wood" ("Seven lonely days" was written by*A. Shuman, E. Shuman and M. Brown):

Celine Dion's "Sorry For Love" is clearly an attempt to replicate Cher's "Believe". And Cerrone's "Rock Me" is so obviously an attempt to replicate Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" that he even used some of the same musicians to increase the similarity. And Summer's "I Remember Yesterday" is done in the style of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band.

Here's a great example of *ahem* inadvertant plagiarism :

Jorge Ben Jor : 'Taj Mahal'
..and a later mega-hit for Rod Stewart.
In all fairness , Rod settled out of court and all subsequent royalties have gone to charity.
