SYLVESTER: THE LIFE & WORK OF A MUSICAL ICON - NYC 10.8&

The Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality
and The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music
    at New York University present

    SYLVESTER:
THE LIFE & WORK OF A MUSICAL ICON
    OCTOBER 8 & 9 2004
    NEW YORK CITY

Famous for his soaring falsetto and flamboyant imagery, Sylvester stormed the charts in 1978 with dance-floor classics "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and "Dance (Disco Heat)." Recognized as one of the first openly gay artists in disco and R&B, this legendary figure has received little critical attention . . . until now.* On October 8 and 9, scholars, journalists, filmmakers, musicians and others will come together to illuminate SYLVESTER, one of the most unique artists in the history of popular music.

Cool. I'd love to go up, and check this out. Sylvester appeared at the Sands? Where was I? Oh, I think I was having kids. That'll put a damper in your night life.

    Thanx for the heads up.

WOW! This conference is a dream come true! Will it be traveling to San Francisco in any way, shape, or form? This was his home for most of his career. I must see these rare and never-before-seen video recordings etc.
