All this talk of sleaze led me back to the old tapes I've made for various reasons for the past 20+ years. Purpose= relisten to them after all these years to see where my head was then and to see if they still work today.

My first discovery (NOT that I'd ever really forgotten) was a 90 minute tape I put together in September, 1981. Now at this point I did have 2 turntables and a mixer, but I was "clueless" about BPM's (beats per minute). So, I put this together just from my own instincts, not because the beats matched and the songs would automatically flow from one to another.

My first find: "NIGHT MOODS" (Sexy Soul) 9/81

    Side 1:

    1 CLOSER- Gino Soccio
2 HERE IS MY LOVE - Sylvester & Jeanie Tracy
3 MIDNIGHT LOVE AFFAIR - George Benson
    4 STOP - Bob-A-Rella
5 NIGHT MOODS - Chaka Khan
6 IN THE DARK - Lani Hall
7 TOO HOT TO SLEEP - Sylvester
8 SLOW HAND - The Pointer Sisters
    9 I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M IN LOVE - Sylvester
10 I WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT - Bill Withers

    Side 2:

    1 THINKING RIGHT - Sylvester
2 NEVER GIVE UP ON YOU - Thelma Houston
3 SOMEDAY WE'LL BE TOGETHER - The Pointer Sisters
4 MISS SUN - Boz Scaggs
5 ANY OLD SUNDAY - Chaka Khan
6 GET READY, GET SET - Chaka Khan
7 REAL LOVE - The Doobie Brothers
    8 PAPILLION - Chaka Khan
9 THE DUDE - Quincy Jones w/ James Ingram
    10 96 TEARS - Thelma Houston
11 ROCK WITH YOU - Michael Jackson

That's it. It's still sexy and I might change some things if I remade it today, BUT I think it holds up.

    OK, NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!!!!!!!

What worked as a background/soundtrack for your bedroom activites back in tha day?

Maybe I'll get some good ideas for some new tapes.

marky sorry to butt in here, going back to the other day you mentioned falcon.dont you find with falcon theres rather a lot of participants with the names "chad"&"chuck" quite disproportionate to other popular names of today, also an excessive use of hot tubs considering the weather weve been having.do you think theres a research problem?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Sorry. Something does not compute. I'm not sure what we're talking about here.

Chads (Hanging Chads?) and Hot Tubs and Falcon Films, Oh! MY!

I dunno THAT much about Falcon --that's a subject for my PORNMEISTER PAL--Mr. Jeff.

I'll ask him to take over.......

Well, the only "bedroom activity" I've done in years is sleeping... so long, quiet, ambient pieces like Steve Roach's aptly titled "Quiet Music" or my own compositions are best for that. Of course, I prefer silence most of all

I was thinking in a topic like this. Nice list, Marky. Some songs I remember:

    -No hiding place (Gap Band)
-I'm with you now (Teri De Sario) This lady had another good number in her 'Caught' LP
    -Easier to love (Sister Sledge)
    -A warm summer night (Chic)
-Alone without you (Narada Michael Walden)this one's kinda cheesy now, but back in the day...
-I remember one One Way/Al Hudson album with a car on the cover, the first song on one side was a beautiful slow number. The chorus went something like "my love is something new/ love within you"... Anyone remembers the name of the song?
-also in Kool & The Gang's "Something special" were two good ballads, I think they were at the end of each side

Of course you know these ones:

-How deep is your love (The Unmentionables)
-After the love has gone, Be ever wonderful and others by Earth, Wind & Fire
-Just the way you are (Barry White version)
    -Magic (Olivia Neutron-Bomb)
-Summer madness (Kool & The Gang)

If I were to create a "sex mix", I would definitely put "More, More, More" on it. That song is a necessity, as I consider it to be one of the sexiest songs of all time. Hell, I would probably include all of the songs from the album it came from (also called "More, More, More"), though not necessarily in the order of the album. That whole album is great for the bedroom. I would also include Donna Summer's "Love To Love to Baby". Like "More, More, More", this song is a must. I would then include a number of Barry White songs. Let's see, what else? I've now come to a mind block, but I'll think of more songs to add.

If anyone hasn't noticed yet, I now got gold, as in I'm now a gold member. I never thought that I would post this many messages on this board. Now I have my sights set on platinum.

Jazz Pilgrim's recipe for the perfect romantic night ...

Start the night off with something a little risqué. Get the mood going - show her how you mean to carry on... why not tempt your lady with Cameo and "She's Strange". Make sure you go for the Room 123 remix. "SHE'S S-T-R-A-N-G-E-!!! AND I LIKE IT !!!"

And then, it's time to crank up the tempo - make the atmosphere HOT!! Get out your copy of Disco Spectrum 2 and put on Sammy Gordon & The Hip Huggers and "Making Love" followed by the Love Symphony Orchestra's "Let Me Be Your Fantasy" "FEELS SO GOOD WHEN YOUR MAKIN' LOVE TO ME !!!"

After that, it's time for the candlelight and wine .... and slip on Tyrone Davis and "In The Mood" ... The perfect romantic record ...

Hmmm. Sound good, uh-huh? Maybe I'll try it on my wife tonight!! BUT She'll probably think I've gone mad!! A mid-life crisis!!!!

If it moves - funk it!!

Well, this is not exactly an answer to Marky's original question, but the topic reminded me of a funny related incident.

Way back when the Flashdance LP was released, the guy I was dating at the time really liked the "Love Theme" (I think that's what it was called; it was a slow instrumental with piano). But the LP cut was very short, so every 3 or 4 minutes he'd want me to get out of bed and start that song again! If I'd only been able to afford decent recording equipment back then!

Well, DiscoDisk, this topic has nothing to do with dance music, but since you mentioned it (and Marky passed the ball to me--as if he doesn't watch porn...!)

There are loads (no pun intended) of porn films that are shot in hot tubs, in swimming pools, in showers, under waterfalls and on the beach. But since I personally don't understand the appeal of having sex in the water, I'm bored by most of them. (Maybe the cinematographers--does porn HAVE cinematographers??!--think water makes for good scenery?)

As for porn star names, you're right--there is a ton of Chads: Douglas, Johnson, Hunt and Donovan come to mind. Unusually frequent use of the names Drew, Eric, Jason, Kyle, Mark, Scott, Steve and Tony too, I'd say. And last names: How many use the names Donovan, Matthews, Parker  Scott and Stryker? Unless someone is really exceptional--and most of them aren't--how can you keep them... uh, straight?

And some names are just too stupid to forget: Rush Stunner is a good one. And how about Mason Jarr??! (I did not make that one up.)

But that's probably more info than you wanted...

I wonder if the movie producers think names like Chad Steele and Kyle Strong create an erotic mystique for the film.

After all who would go see a movie if it starred Irving Gooberman.

Did you tell the guy to get his fat lazy ass out of bed and start the record himself??

Ah, yes, gettin' outta bed to change the record or turn the record over with GREASY body parts---"I remember it well".

Ah! all those Alan Parsons Project(ALL of 'em!!!) Supertramp ("Even in The Quietest Moments") and Jean-Michel Jarre ("Oxygene") records--the soundtrack of much bedroom activity in my SF apartments.

But, what I was really after here were the MIX TAPES you used!!! No one has a specific tape that they repeatedly used to set the mood and underscore the action?

    I'm STILL askin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gawd, I barely remember sex at all...
Ah! all those Alan Parsons Project(ALL of 'em!!!)
ALL of them? Even that dreadful "Eve" LP? Man, that blew. Misogynistic lyrics and cover, crappy melodies... it was seriously weeeaak.

Anyway, if you were to put on side two of "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" (the original version, not the appalling remix that replaced it), I'd be too seduced by the music to pay attention to anything else.

    (dragging things further off-topic)

I was lucky to get the MFSL CD of this before they went under... it has the original mix, which is Orson Welles-free. There's just something about the first few notes of "The Fall Of The House Of Usher" that instantly transports me to another time and place.

Supertramp ("Even in The Quietest Moments")
Sorry, but I can't picture this without laughing

    and Jean-Michel Jarre ("Oxygene")
Another one of my all-time faves... but again, I'd be too engrossed in the post-apocalyptic fantasy that this album puts me in to bother with anything else

Personally, I've always thought that Jarre's ambient masterpiece "En Attendent Cousteau" (or "Waiting For Cousteau", depending on which country your CD came from) would be a wonderful soundtrack to a romantic encounter...

But, what I was really after here were the MIX TAPES you used!!! No one has a specific tape that they repeatedly used to set the mood and underscore the action?
I told ya Marky, I don't get any action... I'm still a stray dog...
