Finding secondhand disco tapes only to find them taped over!

Ive been looking for a copy of a album by a group called Game Over by Player 1 who had a hit in Australia in the 1970's called Space Invaders. Well I have not been able to find a vinyl copy but found a cassette of it. Got it home played it and whoever owned it before me had taped over it with Toto yuk!!!!! What a bummer!
Has this ever happen to any other members? I would love to know what the **** got taped over their classic disco tapes?

That's an awful discovery when you want to play tapes and notice that they are erased or replaced with something else on it.

When I did a mix on tape and I was satisfied with it, I immediately removed the security-lit, so I never got the problem.

I do the same with videotapes.

I also keep my "masters" in special little plastic bags so they pretty survived the years. I sometimes play my old mixes and they still sound pretty good. Which is excellent coz' I still got tapes with discorecords that I don't have myself and so it's close to the real thing.

Back in the day I used to record my mixes onto cassettes and my brother and sisters would swipe them when I wasn't around. I would find some had been mangled or parts taped over

I still have tons of old home recorded cassettes with my mixes... lying around. As good as the equipment and media I used back then was they don't really sound that great now. Glad I recorded using TDK MAR metal bias cassettes for the most part, because if I had used anything less they probably wouldn't have survived as long as they have. Took my favorites and archived them onto CD.
