    hit the road jack

Any of you knows who was the author or group a of a disco cover version of "hit the road jack " released in 1980 ?
All I can add is the song I'm talking about featured a male-solo voice and female voice doing the chorus. It also had the typical disco style drum intro.

Well I only know 1 discocover and that's by Yvonne Elliman on her album "Yvonne" (1979).

And I know of another one by Mo' Horizons but I don't own it so I can not check if that's the same song.

    Hit the road jack

I was not aware that Yvonne Elliman released a cover of "hit the road" but 'll try to download it somewhere, even if I do not think it's the right one because the track I'm seeking featured a solo male voice with female voices as chorus only. I also know the version from "MoHorizons " but it's the not the right one.
    Thanx anyway

I do belive that David Johansen of New York City Dolls did a cover of it. I like it, but feel that Ray Charles' version is the best. I believe Johansens version is from the 80s but I do not recall that it was as early as 1980 but then I am in Denmark and it may have taken a while to catch on ;)

I have a version from Lautrec (french canadian singer Donald Lautrec made a good disco version of this in the late 70s). Try this version, it may be the one.

If you don't find it, e-mail me at 2dquinn@rogers.com
I can point you to where you can get it.

Try Sheilah Chambers on Davante label, it has a vocal and instrumental, it was an import but can't find my copy to listen and verify. Check Ebay for pic.
