    Gay Repubs

don't want to be Repugs. In a NY Times story, http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/08/po.../08repubs.html the Log Cabin repubs have decided not to endorse Shrub and the Tin Man.

Oh, in case you can't see the article, here's a portion.

The board of Log Cabin Republicans, the largest group for gay men and lesbians in the party, voted overwhelming last night against endorsing President Bush for re-election because of his support for a proposed constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

The decision ends six months of soul-searching as the group, which endorsed Mr. Bush in 2000 and Bob Dole in 1996, wrestled with its divided loyalties.

Although the group was immediately critical when the president announced his support for the amendment in February, it pointedly refrained from ruling out an endorsement. Its effort to balance loyalty to the party with opposition to a major item on the Republican agenda has made it a target of criticism from both supporters and opponents of the proposed amendment.

What's so interesting is that Chenney's daughter is a lesbian. I'm curious to find out what his position is on this amendment. Would he infringe upon the rights of his daughter?

Cheney went on record as stating that he "didn't have a problem" with same-sex marriage... but IIRC, he also made it clear that he wasn't going to try to stop the proposed legislation.

Maybe this is the first group of Republicans that are trying to get the "management" of the GOP in "realistic" hands again instead of those right-wing fundamentalists.

    I hope so.

BTW, in Europe they showed the new Kerry-ad where some veterans say they never saw Bush in their base even when he's saying that he served with them.

    Nasty campaign-ouch :)
