    Hi,

I'm a MOTOWN fan and collector and I read something about this CD, but I do not knew the complete track list until now. Thank you for the info. I hope MOTOWN open the vaults and release more rare recordings like these. I'll treat myself with a copy of this CD very soon.

    Peace (paz)

motown may be waking up at last, some of this unreleased stuff is being bootlegged in the u.k under the soul logo theyre expensive £20 each but theyre selling ! the compiler of this c.d.said a while back that motown know all about this and there is talk of limited legal issues being issued, fingers crossed as some of these tracks are as good as, if not better than anything released.initial copies of this c.d. will come with slipcase and 16 page booklets of photos/sleevenotes.

    Most unreleased songs
were probably not released because they just weren't good enough and didn't make the cut such are most of the songs the Motown vault which probably aren't worth that much listen....

    However some songs
are in the Vault that weren't released due to ethical/political reasons at the time
or due to that Motown wanted to market a certain group in a different direction when it came to image making

The songs that were not released for the two latter reasons are the real GEMS!

If these are the songs on this CD then it is definetley worth all the trouble and effort

    A Cellarful Of Motown

I recalled this CD was discussed here prior to it's release....so I searched for this thread.

I've been listening to these 2 CDs and they are great!!!

Such terrific material for unreleased stuff!!!! Berry Gordy's strict product control rejected these--BUT he was WRONG, in many cases!!!

    These are damn good!!!

I'd be interested in others opinions.

Especially loving Tammi Terrell's original version of Stevie Wonder's "All I Do Is Think About You"; Marvin Gaye's "I Wish I Liked You (As Much As I Love You)"; the Brenda Holloway and Gladys Knight and Kim Weston and Velvelettes tracks!!!!

    And you? :o

THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL! THE MOTOWN SOUND VOLS 1&2 on debutante filled with the best and rarest motown

i just last week got cellarfull of motown...mind blowingly faboulous...in fact the author of the liner notes mentions the two other volumes as listed above so i logged onto amazon and ordered those...
watched the dvd of "standing in the shadows" .....not so hot imho...it is impressive that the band played on those songs but that in itself does not make riveting entertainment...

Regarding, Standing In The Shadows Of Motown"...

I enjoyed the film...But I missed the voices of Levi Stubbs and all the other great Motown artists singing their songs. The new artists were good to OK...but not mind-blowing.

Also, some participation of the preeminent folks at Motown (Berry Gordy, Smokey, Stevie, Miss Ross) would have given it a better rounded feel.

That's just my take. I did have a good time watching.

Has anyone heard the isleys track "smile". It supposedly has the same backing track as "What becomes of the brokenhearted. Also brenda holloways version of "my love is your love.
