Have to admit that "More Bounce To The Ounce" is the only track of theirs that I know.
I thought I'd go into an R/B mode this time around... 8)
More Bounce To The Ounce still sizzles to this day... If my crowd is pretty much 1/2 and 1/2 r&b/disco... i'll feature it. Dance Floor from Zapp's 2nd LP isn't as powerfull as it once was... however, I'd rather play Doo Wah Ditty if I'm thumbing around their greatest hits CD. I really enjoy their somewhat ballad Computer Love. One of my favorites by them Heartbreaker is still top shelf. As Roger did the solo thing.... I Heard It Through The Grapevine has a killer intro that just builds and builds!!!! yeah baby! :D However, after 5 minutes you're like  enough already....
For those of you who put Zapp on the shelf.... take one listen to Mega Medley which features hit after hit from them w/ More Bounce To The Ounce as the featured beat.... it's absolutely awesome... Alright funksters, let's hear from ya.
Have to admit that "More Bounce To The Ounce" is the only track of theirs that I know.

Thanks EFUNK!!! Finally an artist where I can truly say...I know every damn track they ever did.
favs include:
Computer Love (especially the 12" version where Shirly Murdock sings a lot more)
More Bounce To The Ounce
It Doesn't Really Matter (not many people seem to know that one)
Dance Floor
Heartbreaker
oh...can we include roger troutmans own LP's too (since they really were zapp LP's too)
So Rough So Tough
I heard It Through The Grapewine (what a way to cover song! :D )
Always thought Zapp were a one idea kind of a band, with Roger Troutman's own solo material being more inventive.
Soooo......put me down for:
More Bounce to the Ounce - A classic for sure. If you ever see the Rap record Bobby Demo - More Bounce and are tempted, my advice would be to forget it. Although using an approximation of more bounce to the Ounce as a backing track it's.....well, the record gets my vote as the weakest, most pathetic Rap record I've ever heard. After Zapp's great dancefloor smash, I was really looking forward to something special.
Dancefloor
Do It Roger One of the absolutely great Roger tracks IMO.
In The Mix - did well for me on the dancefloor, although a little too repetitive (as was nearly all his stuff)
So Ruff, So Tuff - Roger doin' the business.
I heard it through the Grapevine Has there ever been a really naff cover of this song? Probably yes and I know I haven't heard them all, but even Creedance Clearwater's was brilliant. Roger's was up there as one of the best.
'More Bounce...'
'Freedom'
'Dance Floor'
'Brand New Pplayer'
'We Need The Buck'
'So Ruff, So Tuff'
'Do It, Roger'
'Max Axxe'
...
What would you do without your muesli...where would you be without a bowl?
"Playin' Kinda Ruff"...
Gotta say I'm still tired of Zapp. They played their stuff heavily in Boston.
More Bounce to the Ounce was a strip bar anthem.
Anyway I kinda still like Do It Roger because my girlfriend at the time loved it.
Find them and destroy them!
Well you sure know the best of the best :D
Zapp is one of those legendary funkbands. Their style is very distinctive and the Computervoice of Roger Troutman is legendary. I have everything from them on vinyl and cd just to be sure!
"More bounce to the ounce" is brilliant. Repetitive but never boring. It kicks you right in the ...
"Dancefloor" is a killer. But I also like the more jazzy stuff like "Playing kinda ruff, pts. I & II".
Roger made a great comeback as a guest on "California love" together with Dr. Dre and 2Pac and I think that he was ready for excellent new stuff and that their sound would be succesfull again.
Unfortenately he and his brother have left us after a tragic incident.
A while ago his unique vocals were sampled on DJ D's "Shake it baby" a great housetrack.
Zapp forever! Shake it mama! On the Richterscale :D
Zapp...they rule.My faves are It Doesn´t Really Matter,More Bounce To The Ounce and Computer Love.
One of their best songs is actually without the "vocoder". I don't think it even was released on a single.
Take a good listen to "Come On" track B2 on Zapp II Album. Tell me what you think.
"more bounce to the ounce (1980) is the first album and it's not really pure zapp style because on this LP vocoder and talk box is not really present like i "ll be in the followings albums.
"human body" by zapp is the first album from late 70's and i don't like this album.
mY fav tracks are: " do it roger" (extended), "it doesn't really matter" (extended), "computer love" (extended), "Be alright" ( sampled by 2pac)
