    Laura Branigan R.I.P.

Laura Branigan died from a ruptured brain aneurysm in her sleep Thursday night.

I was a fan, though not a huge fan.

I thought you all would like to know.

    She was only 47.

    Rest In Peace sweet Laura.

Oh God :o I can't believe it!!!! I'm shocked!!! So young and a great artist despite what some say, Gloria and Self Control are among my all time fav songs.

In fact as a tribute I'll put Stop to this Ventures song I'm listening to and jam Gloria!

    RIP Laura Branigan

    ah

Playing "Solitaire", and will cry all night. Okay, not really, but it is pretty sad. At least she went peacefully in her sleep.

And always loved her "Whatever I Do Wherever I Go" more than Hazell's.

God speed and rest in peace Laura.

As much as it was overplayed "Gloria" remains a monumental song in the history of dance music.A sad day indeed

Just saw this on the net. Sad. And at only 47. At least, as has been said before, she went peacefully and since she died in her sleep, in no pain. I have the 12" of Gloria b/w Solitare. Now is probarbly a good time for me to pull it out and play it.

Like you, discohunter, I had a Laura Branigan memorial yesterday too. I was a little surprised to realize that I own seven CDs by her, which puts her right up there with some of my favorite dance divas. I think Hold Me is probably my favorite CD of hers.

Funny (?) story: On New Year's Eve 1982, the dance club I frequented then was featuring the obligatory year-end countdown which, of course, would end with "Gloria" as the year's No. 1 song. So the DJ played "Gloria" at midnight to wild cheers--and as soon as he'd mixed into the next record, he took "Gloria" off his turntable and broke the record in half for everyone to see. He said he'd gotten so sick of the song that year that he vowed to never play it again. At least until this weekend, I hope.
