I forgot to say that they had made a huge mistake, is family name is misprint on the cover and also inside liner notes, they had wrote Alec Constandinos, wich is obviously not .....funny and stange......RU

Doesn't that just creep you out when a record company can't spell the name of their artist correctly?????
I swear there are mispellings of artist's names on that Gregg Diamond "Disco-Tech" compilation, also.
It just makes ya wonder "Who ARE these idiots that can't even take the time to check the spelling of the names of the folks they are trying to sell to the public"?
I AM a stickler for spelling, I guess--NOT that I don't have my typos--BUT if I see them I make an attempt to EDIT them. I guess it's the "school marm" in me. But, it just seems to me that if you're taking the time to type the damn thing--at least make sure you're communicating your info and presenting it in the best possible light.
OK, enough. I'm sure I made 20 typos in this little message/rant.

WHAT? I've heard this CD, and it was clearly mastered from a bunch of old cassettes... the original LPs sound waaaay better. On 2002-05-28 17:18, ruoffended wrote:

Actually, despite what the cover says, it contains 1 LP, and excerpts from two others. "Accidental Lover" is over 17 minutes long in full form (minus a couple on the US version because they took out the spoken word intro). It also doesn't have anything from side 2 from "How Much, How Much I Love You".it was release by UNIDISC RECORDS in 1988 and contains 3 lps from Mr. COSTANDINOS ,
A mountain of compilations aside, pretty much the same stuff they've got out today; although I did find their reissue of Andrea True Connection's "More More More". They claim it has two full-length LPs on it, but it only has about half of "White Witch" (which is dreadful anyway) -- however it does have an extended version of "It's All Up To You" that was, to the best of my knowledge, previously unreleased. This is a pure treasure , i wonder what else did they have release back then.....RU
But I will say this: you didn't overpay for it. Previously this CD has gone for over $100 on eBay, which is a terrible amout to pay for such a badly botched compilation. And despite my issues with it, it's still sonically better than the Gregg Diamond Discotech CD.
Oh, I just knew this post would set Graham off again...!
Which reminds me that I have to pull out my copy of the CoNstandinos CD in question and give it a listen. (I'm almost embarrassed to confess that I never heard anything wrong with it when I played it previously...)

I still wonder if Polygram Records, which released the 1994 "Casablanca Records Story" has all of the Casablanca label's master recordings. I assume they have a lot, if not all of the masters since it took several to put together that compilation. I also wonder why they've never done another comp. I sure wish they would, but would actually prefer all of the albums released in their entirety. 3/22/2010
Polygram is no more, it's now part of the Universal Music Group.
UMG would likely have Casablanca's production copies, but the original masters are probably with Alec himself. My understanding is that he, not UMG (or RCA or any other label which issued his works), controls the rights to his music. Someone on his Facebook page recently alluded to his albums possibly being reissued soon, so perhaps he has changed his mind.
As for why they've never done another compilation: lack of demand is usually the main reason why something is not available. I found my copy of The Casablanca Story box in the clearance bin, which tells me something about how well it sold.
I actually set up the deal between Alec and Unidisc, and believe they did use tapes to make the actual compilation. The problem may be a lousy mastering engineer.
The bottom line is: Unidisc and labels like Collectors choice are more about their logos on the packaging than anyone else...
I really hope these albums get re-issued on cd! I am desperate to get hold of some of alec's work. Is there anything of his out there apart from this old unidisc cd which is selling for a stupid amount of money?
Would anyone recommend these bootleg cd's or would it be best to wait & see if the originals ever get released?
