I picked up this CD at Amoeba and am listening for the first time today. Anyone familiar with it? The full title is "Alright! Black American Dance Music From The Disco Era" on Ace Records Ltd. UK 2001.

A lot of the tracks are from Westbound Records and it's a UK import. It's interesting and mostly obscure stuff--all of it good.

    1) EVERYTHING'S GONNA BE ALRIGHT - The Clark Sisters (3:35)
    2) FREE MAN - South Shore Commission (5:39)
    3) SURE CAN'T GO TO THE MOON - CJ & Co. (7:29)
    4) LATIN DISCO - The Counts (6:44)
    5) THE MAGIC MAN - King Errisson (4:01) I hadn't heard this in decades!!!!!!!!
    6) ALVIN STONE (DEATH OF A GANGSTER) - Fantastic Four (6:46)
    7) MOON TREK - Mike Theodore (5:04)
SOME LIKE IT HOT - Dennis Coffey (5:09)
    9) DISCO BOOTY - Melvin Sparks (4:23)
    10) LOVE DON'T COME EASY - New Jersey Connection (6:30)
    11) SADIE - Joe Bataan (4:19)
    12) I NEED SOMEBODY TO LOVE TONIGHT - Sylvester (3:20)

Check it out if you can find it.

Sound a good compilation to me!

Is that Sylvester track featured a tasty slow dance track? There is one Sylvester slowie that I heard once, and I have been on the lookout for it...

yeah the Sylvester one is great, atmospheric synthesizers and his falsetto vocal. There is a 6 min version that you may find. It was on his Stars album from 1979 (with I (Who Have Nothing))
