Joel Whitburns "Hot Dance/Disco" book say:

Does someone knows where is she from ???

Joel Whitburns "Hot Dance/Disco" book say:
"Born Noel Pagan in the Bronx, New York. Latin-disco singer."
Joel Whitburn got this wrong. There were two artists who recorded under the name Noel. One is the male freestyle singer of "Silent Morning" fame and the one pictured above is the mysterious female produced by Sparks on the Virgin label.
Now the female Noel has those two dots over the "e" in her name (don't know how to do that on a computer!!!).
The pictured Noel's biggest hit was a terrific 12" "Dancing Is Dangerous" b/w "The Night They Invented Love" from 1979. I don't have her later releases--but I've seen a couple in stores.
The "urban legend" repeated here awhile back was that one of the Mael brothers was actually Noel in drag. I don't think this is true.![]()
Whitburn mistakenly listed them as the same artist. Don't get me started. I'm compiling a list of the errors I've found. I'm gonna sit write down and type myself a letter to Joel Whitburn.

Oh, thanks Hotdiscomix and Marky, Noel is a mystery from virgin records, her "The Night They Invented Love" is an excellent synthesized disco sound, perhaps she is an UDO (Unidentifield Disco Object) :)
The Noel 12" is an almost forgotten gem. BOTH sides "Dancing Is Dangerous" & "The Night They Invented Love") are wonderful. The Mael Brothers (Sparks) had just worked with Giorgio Moroder on their "Number One in Heaven" LP...so the production is pure Giorgio. S'wonderful :D :D :D
But exactly who "Noel" was... is a mystery to me. Could she be a Brit? :o

Hi Marky,
I have send Mr. Whitburns also an email with an error list, but he has send never a reply. :(
But the "Noel" problem, I have miss.
I was wondering if there was a thread on this here..
Someone tipped me off to her some months back, I finally got her LP yesterday (unfortunately not the pic disc version :( ).. Loving the hell out of it, especially "The Night They Invented Love." I'd agree, totally Moroder inspired, which is certainly not a bad thing, IMO..
No mention of it whatsoever on the Sparks' website though.. Which is wierd, it's not the type of disco album one should be ashamed to put in their discography.. Definitely one of the more enigmatic disco singers I've come across; possibly right up there next to Suzi Lane..
That's probably the most revealing tidbit of info I've found on her so far.. After reading that, I did some searching on eBay (yes, I've got a lot of time on my hands today :P) and found one of them (I think..)Originally Written by markydefad
Noel & The Red Wedge
Hi there.Noel is fom Louisiana and now lives in LA.Most of the information I have on her stems from a 1979 interview she did with the UK pop mag Sounds. She toured the nightspots of the UK to promote the album but sadly it failed to chart.
She was quite successful as a model and I have some shots of her from 1980.
