Just recently played this Lp nonstop half a dozen times !! very slick & funky on a jazz tip , 4 tracks & all long !!
I slept on this one for far to long , always kept shuffling it back till last night .
Anyway , Im wanting to know your opinions on this and his other must have 70's Lp's .. likewise ,,tell me which one's I should avoid .
I'm not too hot on his '70s funky stuff, but 'Soul Eyes' on Mainstream is quite moody. 'From Vienna With Art' features a tough version of Jimmy Heath's 'The Gap Sealer'. No breaks, but particularly natty drums from Erich Bachtragl are in tow.
There's an LP on UK Pye which is uncharacteristic of Farmer's funky stuff (I think it has vocals) and pretty good. Can't remember what it's called, but it has a blue cover depicting him on a stool. Always a cheapie and worth checking out.
Plenty of goodies from the '50s and '60s also!
Thanks for your thoughts Forrrce ,, I will be picking up his other stuff as I find it , as long as its not on the wrong end of the price scale .
I reckon his other 70's stuff would be interesting too , and i look forward to hearing some of his earlier 60's work as well .
Anybody else got any comments on his output ?
